Thomas Edison: Young Inventor (Childhood of Famous Americans)

My children have to read this for history in school. I’ve never been a biography fan, but this series is written well and captures the interest of children. They are written at a reading level that a child could read it alone or listen to it during a read aloud. As an adult, I was interested in the story as well and found that I learned things I didn’t know.

Book is easy to read. Font size is average but there is extra spacing between the lines. Captivating story.

Bought this book for my daughter. She enjoyed it a lot. I’m interested in getting more from the series.

My son read this book this first day it arrived. He LOVED it. Hes 9 and it os great for his reading level.

This book kept my, “non-book loving,” daughter entertained and she got through it quickly.

This is not a biography, per se. The "Childhood of Famous Americans" books are a series of fictionalized accounts of the youth of famous Americans. The conversations and (some) scenarios may be made up, to show the character formation of the famous person. The places and names of people are biographical; some of the situations are probably not. Having said that... we like this series very well. And wow, we have enjoyed Thomas Edison! The book emphasizes values like responsibility, curiosity, and hard work. Some of the stories made us laugh, and they all made us even more interested to find out what would happen next. Our kids were the most excited about Thomas's laboratory in the basement, and in his job on the train.

Wonderful book for my daughter who loves biographies.

This has been an excellent book which holds your attention and makes you want to read more!
