How long is the whole syringe?

Hi- it's 4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches diameter. You would be better off getting an enema / douche bulb- easier to use and more versatile.

For those who have tried both: is this better than the squirt bottle type?

Yes, There is no question about that. I first was exposed to this by doctor who used it to help in ear wax removal. The amount of power is at least twice what a rubber bulb or plastic bottle could do.

this works great until it locks up number 3 for me. Any solutions?

Mine works fine no idea what would lock up. I found it works even better if you put a couple drops of hydrogen peroxide in each ear and wait 3 or 4 hours to flush.
