Can the length of the chains be adjusted, if you need to shorten two of them?

Yes, someone with good mechanical skills could. You would have to remove the roll-pins on the hook. Once you remove the hooks, then remove the desired # of links and reattach the hooks. I would use new roll pins when reattaching the hooks. This type of work would also void any manufacturers warranty. Only attempt I you know what you're doing. Working with suspended loads is serious business.
