Product Description Two cops are partnered up and must try to uncover how five bank robbers escaped from a bank during a heist. .com An action-heavy thriller with a metaphysical twist, Chaos pits action stars of the past (Wesley Snipes) and present (Jason Statham from The Transporter) against each other in a race to uncover the truth behind a seemingly perfect heist. Statham (sporting a come-and-go American accent) is a troubled cop who is called out by Snipes' bank robber to stop him from executing a scheme that will end with not only all participants evading capture, but no money removed from the vaults. It's an engaging premise, and one made moderately more so by Snipes' interest in chaos theory, and director Tony Giglio orchestrates the action with a professional hand. Unfortunately, the pieces fall together in an entirely predictable manner, which stranded the leads (as well as Ryan Phillippe as Statham's rookie partner) in an overly familiar story and undermines the novel spin of Snipes' plan. Those looking for no-frills entertainment, or longtime fans of Statham and Snipes, will find it an agreeable timewaster. --Paul Gaita

Good Action Movie
Great Statham movie. We love all of Jason's movies and have never been disappointed with them. This one is a whirlwind ride and keeps you guessing all the way to the end. A nice way to spend an action-packed evening, and just when you think it might be a bit too predictable, it isn't.

Chaos theory a fun ride that keeps guessing
Change his name from Connor to Reddington from The Blacklist and you have a good idea how a good person becomes a master criminal. Very enjoyable. Now we have Don Ressler on the hunt for Reddington, only it will be Shane Dekker (Ryan Phillipe) tracking Quintine Conners (Jason Statham) around the world. It's one of those movies where you need to start remembering the pieces to assemble the real plot.

Finally, a movie that is unpredictable! And action-packed!
There are many great things about this movie -- action, suspense, mystery, etc. -- but my favorite is that it goes places we wouldn't expect, and does it well. Great work to all. (And did I mention that Justine Waddell is alluring and intriguing in this film?)

Maybe not the right Ryan?
In the Ryan Triad (Gosling, Reynolds, Phillipe), this might not have been the Ryan you wanted to portray a the kind of cop who can ride a Harley full tilt through alleys, dodge careering trucks, survive devastating explosions and shoot and be shot at by bad guys. He is just too pretty!Ryan Phillipe could be a runner up in the Derek Zoolander competition for guys who are just really really ridiculously good looking. If you’ve got one of those illustrated DK dictionaries, look up “babyface”. I bet the entry is accompanied by a picture of Mr. Reynolds.Seriously, he’s prettier than castmates Jessica Steen or Justine Waddell. Paired with the always-stubbly Jason Statham, he comes off not so much as a lightweight but more like weightless. Ryan Gosling could’ve added some gravitas to the goings on. I mean, did you see “Drive”? The good one, I mean? 2011? Ryan Gosling could at least keep up with Statham in a taciturn-off.But, enough picking on Phillipe. He wears one expression through this compact thriller, a vague pout of disapproval. Statham maintains his sullen mien, too. But that’s his whole thing. Whatever movie he’s in, he’s Jason Damn Statham, dammit! And I do love me some Statham.Which is why “Chaos” is kind of a disappointment. We’ve got Statham, the toughest pint-sized martial arts star working, and Wesley Snipes, who used to be no slouch in that department himself. Remember those “Blade” movies? Snipes kicked vampire butt in those! Yet with all that, Statham and Snipes exchange not so much as a polite handshake, let alone a kick to the head. Phillipe gets in some punches and bludgeoning with Wesley Snipes, but it’s just not the same. I want to see Mr. Statham leap six feet in the air and chin-kick two mobster simultaneously while throwing a wrench at a third. That’s just me. “Chaos” is supposed to be a cerebral thriller with a plot so baroque as to be ludicrous, accompanied by a lot of bafflegab about “chaos theory”. And stories about the Buddha. Even the superficial nodding acquaintance this reviewer has with popular science books about maths is enough to convince me that the screenwriters just read a couple reviews of this important book (conveniently discovered on Statham’s bookshelf) and then wrote some vague handwaving about complications and patterns and stuff.I don’t know enough about the Buddha to say if Phillipe was on to something there, or making it all up. But the plot is so over-complicated that it could never work in a million chaotic years. Computer viruses must have sounded sexier in 2005, too. The basic plot idea is cadged from the wonderful “Office Space”, though, and it’s kind of fun.Still, there’re things to like. A nice pickup/motorcycle chase through streets and alleys. A bank blows up real good. Shots are fired and then fired some more. Detonators glow red and count down. A house blows up real good. Statham glowers. Snipes seems to really be enjoying his silly lines, emoting with more enthusiasm than the rest of the cast put together. A bank heist. Things are not what they seem (are they ever?). A coroner attempts to vamp Detective Phillipe, and fails. Ryan still looks beautiful despite a lot of minor cuts and scrapes makeup, what with falling off a Harley, being blown up, being shot and wrestling with Wesley Snipes. And a not-quite M. Night Shyamalan but good enough twist at what seems like the end. Let’s twist again, like we did in Seattle! In all, a so-so but not terrible low-stakes thriller with enough action to keep the brain from asking too many questions, an appreciated turn by Wesley Snipes, who should get more work, and some decent explosions. Give me a good explosion and I’ll put up with a lot. Just don’t ask me to believe it’s all “Chaos”. More like predictable.
