I've been using the Pinless Moisture Meter for various DIY projects, and it's proven to be an incredibly reliable tool. It has been particularly useful in checking the moisture content of walls and lumber before starting any renovations or building projects. This has helped me avoid potential issues with water damage or mold. What I really like is the non-invasive nature of this meter. It gives accurate readings without damaging the surface, which is great when dealing with finished wood or painted walls. The digital display is clear and easy to read, making it straightforward to use even for someone who isn't particularly tech-savvy. One thing to note is that the readings can vary slightly if you don't hold it flat against the surface, so it takes a bit of practice to get consistent results. However, once you get the hang of it, it becomes a quick and reliable way to check for moisture. This moisture meter has become an essential part of my toolkit. It’s definitely worth the investment for any DIYer or homeowner looking to prevent water damage and ensure the longevity of their projects.

I originally bought this to measure moisture levels in my Cali Bamboo Mocha Eucalyptus 9/16" solid flooring — and it worked perfectly for that. I’ve also used it to check plywood moisture on an exterior wall from the inside, and to locate a hidden damp spot behind drywall (see attached photos). I liked it so much I bought a second one as a gift for a friend a few months later. The green backlit display is clear and easy to read. A great and inexpensive little tool that gets the job done!

Does a pretty good job for the price. Just understand that it doesn't penetrate like the probes. But it's good enough for firewood.

I am a renter and a few years ago, I unknowingly moved into a house with a water leak and a mold problem. Long story short, it was a very costly experience, both from a health and a property perspective. Never again! I initially bought one of these to make sure I didn't cause a leak in my last rental when installing some shelves. Recently, I moved and used this meter to check the walls and cupboards in my prospective rentals. I eliminated a couple of apartments that I otherwise would have considered when I found wet walls (50-60% wet!). I eventually moved into a place that I thought was dry but a few weeks later, noticed some bubbling paint on a wall I didn't check and was able to confirm moisture present with the meter. Fortunately, my new landlord is a gem and ripped out the rotten wall, fixed the internal leak and then patched it up all shiny and new. But, we were still getting a high moisture reading on a nearby wall, which the contractor initially thought was part of the first leak he fixed. But when the moisture meter reading didn't change after a week, we were able to determine that there was a second leak. So, he opened up the wall and sure enough. He fixed that too. We also figured out one of the toilets was leaking into the hardwood floor, which wasn't visible. There's not a snowball's chance in hell I would have ever found these leaks on my own without the meter. I'm grateful that with these moisture readings, we could catch the problems and fix them before they became disasters. The contractor loved the little meter and told me that in decades of fixing houses, he'd never seen one. This is my new secret weapon to finding invisible leaks and keeping my rentals healthy and dry.

First time using one of these devices. easy to use, just turn it on, set the mode and place it against what you want to measure. flat surface is best. If testing firewood place it as flush as possible to the wood. the end of the wood is flatter but, may read lower than a 'split' edge, as expected. Used a few times to check firewood: freshly split, wood that has been drying for a few months, and wood drying for a year plus. The results were as expected. I ignore the lighted meter and beeps, and just go by the percentage displayed, an online search will tell you that under 20% is good for firewood. The chart on the back says hardwood is wet at over 15% Could be the makers are just playing it safe or have a margin of error.

A really good meter for finding damp . No need of contact just holding it over the part to measure. Easy to setup for different materials. Easy to use.

efficace et facile d'utilisation

I purchased this meter as I’ve had the unfortunate experiences of major/minor water leaks in my condo and I wanted to make sure that if there was moisture in the hardwood floors that I addressed it quickly. I have hickory engineered hardwood floors and the hardwood mode was therefore selected on the meter. It appears to work and any moisture shows up within the scale used to measure how wet the wood might be. I used the meter as instructed but I garnered greater confidence in comparing known moisture free areas of the floor with areas that I knew had possibly been compromised, there was clearly significant differences which also were in the ranges for Dry and Wet on the meter. The meter was easy to read and use. It is quite light and appears to be somewhat delicate however if it is handled and stored with care I think it will be a winner.
