With the current shortage of Raspberry Pis, I decided to try a robot kit based on the ESP32 board. I have bought robot kits from Freenove before and have found them to be of good quality, backed up by outstanding customer support. This has proved to be the case again, I had a problem with the app , sent an email, and was provided with a link to an updated version of the app the following day. Assembly of the kit has a few fiddly steps particularly if you have large fingers. I also found it necessary to study the photos as well as the written instructions, but the end result was a fully functioning robot dog! This is immediately fully controllable from the phone app (the updated version I was sent is now the version in the google play store) If you simply want to build a robot and then control it, I would definitely recommend this kit as, compared with some others, it saves on the cost and difficulty of sourcing a raspberry pi separately. The only extra required is some batteries. These can be found at vape stores or online at sites such as 18650.uk The kit requires 2 X 18650 flat top batteries with continuous discharge current greater than or equal to 10A. Search for 3.7v high drain. You will also need a charger. If, like me, you also want to delve into the code, this is all open source and available on github. I have not yet had time to look at this. All in all a fun kit with plenty of functionality out of the box and the option to tinker further.

Assembles fairly easily but follow the instructions carefully. Lots of pieces and tiny screws. Software provided with a tutorial to explain how it works. All the software is available to download from Freenove's site so you can check out the tutorials and assembly instructions prior to purchasing. Support staff responded quickly to my inquiries. Freenove is an excellant company to deal with.

The kit is incredibly nicely packaged. I went to the freenove web site for tutorials and instructions. I found the web page so incredibly well organised and helpful. It's great to see companies take such effort to support their kits.

It's a fun project to build and play with. I didn't expect to build from scratch. The tutorial was easy to follow. As I progressed, I ran into some technical difficulties but through e-mails I got great support. Someone mentioned finding batteries, I had to problem finding batteries on Amazon. If nothing else, I give this a high score because of the support given

Instrukcja montażu tego robota jest słabo czytelna, ponieważ wszystkie elementy są czarne. Niektóre ilustracje nie pokazują wszystkich śrub, jak w przypadku orczyków. Model jednak da się skonstruować i uruchomić. Działają polecenia dotyczące ruchu, koloru (diody RGB) i dźwięku. Dobrze działa też sonar. Niestety największe problemy stwarza aplikacja na Androida. Jedną gwiazdkę "przyznaję" za moje wielogodzinne i bezskuteczne zmagania, by uzyskać trwałe połączenie WiFi ze smartfonem (Samsung S202). Nawet na starszym telefonie z Androidem 6 uzyskiwałem na krótko obraz z kamery. Może ktoś inny będzie miał więcej szczęścia.
