THIS light is truly awesome. Only uses 3 double a batteries, and it sure is bright. Magnet holds great, you can place this side of fridge and it will NOT slide down the fridge door. It is also very easy to change the batteries. It is bigger in size than I thought it would be from the picture. The height is approximately 3 and 3/4 and the diameter is approximately 3 and 3/4 It is also brighter then I thought it would be, for it's size it is very bright, it can temporarily blind your eyes - I looked at the leds, turned it on then said to myself wow that is bright, turned it off immediately, closed my eye lids immediately too and I could see the led impression still and count the dots until they faded away. So be careful to not look into the bulbs while it is on, it really is that bright. The picture shows it angled to the right, it can also be angled to the left to the same degree, as well as swivel around 360 degrees. IF you hold the red and turn the black touching the red it is only a noon to 1 pm of a turn to get the black to be able to be removed from the red and that is where the 3 AA batteries are held. The on and off black round button is push on / push off, and made of rubber. The photo shows black mushroom looking part at bottom of photo if you look close you can see a difference, there is a small ring of rubber = It helps to keep the base from sliding around when there is no metal to sit it on. A lot of thought went into making this LED light, and the construction is also strong and looks like it will last many years. I am VERY HAPPY with this purchase, and have showed it to family and friends all have remarked at how bright it is , how the ability to place it on metal and have ti stay is nice , and how changing it's angle really is a great option on this LED work light. Any mechanic would love to have this light.

The magnet on this is great, and it's nice that it swivels so easily, but the light is so harsh and bright that it's unpleasant to use unless absolutely necessary. I guess that's what you get with LEDs.

Well, I started by ordering just a couple of these ULLMAN ROTATING MAGNETIC LIGHTS as Christmas gifts for friends, and bought an extra one for myself. As soon as the package came, I opened the one for personal use, to see if it was worth the price paid. It comes with batteries (3 AAA's), so it's ready, right out of the box. HOLY COW! I WAS AMAZED! This is one light NO ONE SHOULD BE WITHOUT! So versatile, durable, and easy to use. The LED throws a nice beam, and the ROTATING feature is well made. The magnet is strong and will hold onto most any metal surface, painted or not. A big help when the surface is uneven. I placed mine on a painted, 5 inch steel pipe, and it held on without slipping. Some magnetic devices have slipped from this pipe, but not this light! Good magnets! By the way, there are 4 small magnets on the base, so even if one doesn't grip an uneven surface, the others will hold to it. So... I ordered a 6-PACK for myself, and plan to place these lights throughout the house and garage. We often have power outages in this area, so these lights will come in very handy. If you do a lot of work in your garage, and need a light for working under the hood of your car, THIS IS THE LIGHT for you! In fact, I might even keep one in my car ... just in case. I can't say enough about the quality of this product, and the great price. You can't go wrong with this little light. Yeah, it's little; only about 3 inches by 3 inches, overall, but it's a honey! I applaud Ullman for producing such a great product, and I know my friends will really like their (stocking stuffer) gifts.

This is a really convenient way to light up tight work spots. Love the magnetic base.

I have a project car in my garage. Working on wires under the dash can be a challenge. The wires have a variety of colors with a variety of colored stripes on them, so the fact that the light it produces is white is a big help. Because there is an inherent bit of blue in white LED lights, the fact that it is very bright (you can't even look directly at it) actually makes it possible to see the proper colors. The magnetic mount is a big help because who ever has a spare hand to hold a light while working on a car? There is a lot of steel on a car. The But don't fear that the magnets will scratch anything, the rubber base makes for soft contact. The swivel mount allows you to position the light over a wide variety of angles. I think that a wide variety of lights is always necessary when working in tight quarters, but this light comes the closest to being a "do everything" light. I highly recommend it. Plus a couple of hints. I recommend putting a little baggie or piece of plastic wrap over the base, because even though the rubber won't scratch anything the magnets are decently strong and can pick up little metal bits, which could scratch or just gather on the magnets. This way you can put the baggie off and the metal bits just fall off. The aluminum housing is not much of a selling point. It is very thin and even flexes just like a piece of plastic, plus the rest of the light is made of plastic. I guess at least you won't have to worry about it cracking from heat or anything. Just to make it clear, I am not affiliated with the product in any way. I just do a lot of work in dark confined places and I'm always having trouble holding lights on my work until I got these. I said to myself, "finally a light for me." Then I bought two more. The small one is just as good as the big one. I could easily have lived with the small one. They are equally bright, the big one just has a larger "spot."

The size is listed incorrectly in the product description. It is 3.7 inches diameter. This is a terrific light. Bright enough to be useful, but not so bright as to make your work environment a hostile place. I use it under auto hoods. The light can be pointed most anywhere, and it will stay where it's put. I used it three hours tonight on the three provided Energizer AA batteries. Materials appear to be high quality. The housing is a nicely finished piece of formed aluminum. The ball-and-socket joint appears to be well designed and constructed. The magnet design is really pretty slick. There are four rare earth magnets embedded in the base. On the periphery of the base is a rubber lip that is very slightly proud of the magnets. When you place the light on a steel surface such as the underside of a car hood, it sticks tenaciously without the magnets actually touching the steel surface. The rubber lip is the only thing that touches. You get the benefit of the powerful rare earth magnets along with the grippy rubber lip to protect whatever surface you place the light on. So go ahead, stick it to a painted or polished surface without fear of damage. It sticks great to flat surfaces, or almost flat surfaces. The magnets are plenty powerful to hold in overhead applications. I agree with another reviewer that the beam should be broader - a flood rather than a spot. But I quibble. This light is a pleasure to own and use.

Pros: Strong magnetic base. Swivel action makes for good aiming of light. Cons: Cheap plastic construction. Will definitely crack or shatter if dropped. Super bright BUT only for about 15 minutes before light output goes down to less than half and remains that way until turned off for 10+ minutes (using Amazon rechargeables). Highly overpriced considering the shortcomings.
