Is this compatible with a Cricial MX300 m.2 ssd?

i have a samsung 960 evo, it is the same dimensions as the crucial, and mine fits fine, what you have to look for is whether it is 2280, which the crucial is, and if the nand is all on one side, which it is on the crucial, so, yes, it should absolutely be compatible

Does this fit on a motherboard M.2 Slot or only on the cards?

This heat sink attaches to the m.2 drive itself. I had no trouble then installing the drive on my ASUS X370-f motherboard.

Does the finish on the copper and nickel spreaders tarnish with age? Or is it a paint?

I haven't had it long enough to notice that happening. If that would I'd assume it'll take a long time.
