Q: Has anyone tried these for sharpening small cutting tools, like wire cutters or diagonol cutters?

They will work for this; I have done something similar. Be very careful however. If you get them at all hot the glue holding them to the steel shaft will melt and the stone will fall off. I suggest use one for a few seconds then switch it for another and back and forth so they stay cool.
