Chipotle Paste 17.6oz/ 500g

I'm from xalapa Veracruz living in Vancouver Washington this just makes me feel at home. I love it! The flavor is amazing, great with all kinds of food from meats to soups, I can't eat with out hot sauce and this is just perfect, get some paste in to a little container add some water dissolve and you are ready to go!! Try it you won't regret I promise!!

I first used chipotle chili paste in a Blue Apron recipe and loved the flavor. I wanted to recreate the recipe and purchased this almost a year ago. It definitely matches the flavor from Blue Apron. We use a teaspoon to a tablespoon at a time, and it is has stayed just fine in our refrigerator all this time. I highly recommend this. I know it costs a lot, but price per ounce, it is a terrific value.

Like: Flavor is super. Vastly more convenient than dried chilis and better than canned. Much better than hot sauce in cooking if you like the smokiness. I will try other flavors. Don't like: This is perhaps a niggle: It seems to oxidize on top even in the fridge. Doesn't affect flavor and the oxidation is better than a lot of oil in my opinion.

This was the worst purchase ever and I’m really sad it was because I was really looking forward to making chipotle mayo with it. It almost has a toxic taste to it. Had to throw it out because I can’t imagine making anything with it and seller doesn’t accept returns.

I’m very pleased with the quality of this paste. I had difficulty finding it locally which was surprising to me so I ordered through amazon which is always a bit of a gamble when it comes to a product that many people (especially households with few members) don’t go through at a rapid pace. While I’m sure there are families who *may* go through a jar of this size (almost 18 ounces) in five months, we sure won’t. And while I dont automatically purge all items promptly on there expiration date, it seems to me that five months is really not a reasonable enough period of time on balance of the cost of this item. I would have liked to have left this chili paste a five star review, as I feel it’s a beautiful product. But five months to use a large jar of paste like this is simply too short of a period. I am disappointed with that aspect of this purchase, and feel its only fair to say so. I would likely not have purchased this had I come across it in a retail environment and weighed the cost of the product with the short expiration date. Unfortunately that’s something we don’t have the privilege of doing when purchaseing on line. So be forewarned.
