Is this good for outside at a park or does it soak up all the moisture from the ground?

I wouldnt say its absorbent but I also wouldnt say its water resistant! A better purchase for that purpose would be an outdoor picnic blanket with a lined back! They sell them on Amazon ;)

Parents, could you help - how do you fold this into a bag? I find it hard to fold.

I wouldn't say it's a bag necessarily but it just folds on itself and stays folded with the Velcro

No it is not padded, the sides do stick up, and it is a heavy material.

Is this product useful once baby can crawl or no?

Yes. My daughter is 16 months now and I still use it. She will sit and play on it, but mostly I find it convenient to pack some toys and books for when she goes to a sitter, or has to come to work with me. It makes clean up really easy. Just fold it and go.
