Introducing Nietzsche: A Graphic Guide

This illustrated book will take you on a journey of Nietzsche's life from his schooling in a strict Lutheran boarding school and on to becoming the philosopher of the time; he lived from 1844 to 1900, in the times of Marx and Freud. This book discusses Nietzsche's views on and connections with many other philosophers. Existentialism, Power/Knowledge, Deconstruction, Faith, genealogy of morals, Marxism, Madness and Postmodernism, are a few concepts viewed through Neitzsche's eyes. If you are having trouble understanding concepts related to Neitzsche, then this little book will give you an easy entry into his world. P.173 "Meanwhile, do we prefer the void as our purpose rather than be void of purpose..."

I enjoyed the book and feel that I got a good simplified overview of Nietzsche's life and works. My only complaint was that it would have been more helpful to be able to read the dialogue in the cartoon drawings. I purchased the kindle version and tried enlarging the pictures but it didn't really work! Perhaps a re-working of the digital book file could help? Thanks!

A good illustration but not a good summarization. I would rather go with a book that covers a little more detailed ideas of him. However, if you need some short (but not basic though) explanations for his ideas,this guide may be helpful.

I love this book!! I will be getting more of these books. It is a good introduction to the subject and it is fast and easy to read. I recommend it to anyone wanting to get a quick idea of what a subject is.

This is the second Introducing Graphic Guide I have read (Introducing Sartre was the first). These guides are a great way to quickly learn about subjects you have heard about all your life but actually know nothing about. (I learned enough about both of these philosophers to know not to bother reading any of their works. I also developed a deep sympathy for poor Nietzsche, who probably had Asperger's Syndrome or something similar. For a great philosopher, he lived a truly miserable life.) The only negative thing I can say about the guides is that I didn't like the illustrations in the Nietzsche Guide, which I found wierd, sometimes confusing, and often depressing. But then, that was what Nietsche was like!

A very nice introduction. But don't expect to become a Nietzsche expert overnight. Take this book and run with it. Read everything you can hands on by Nietzsche. This book is the perfect launching pad.

This book succinctly gives understanding to Nietzsche showing that his conclusions are the natural progression of The Enlightenment. This period began with man outgrowing God to man is God to the empty hopelessness that is man without God. No wonder his mind broke, he had no hope when he rejected his only hope, Christ.

Great little book, easy to carry round and read.

The graphic style aids understanding. Well structured too considering the ground it has to cover. And what is most useful that it links all 20th century ideas to his ideas

Ottimo volume per sintesi generale su Nietzsche

I am now peripherally aware of a broad swathe of Nietzsche's work. I particularly liked the extra information afforded to the reader about Nietzsche's life, along with some historical context. I was also extremely glad to find that the book offers a full picture of the philosophers who influenced Nietzsche, as well as those whose work was inspired by him. After having read this publication, I feel better equipped to choose some primary sources for further reading. As an additional note, the sketches help to some extent to aid comprehension of some of the themes and make relevant links between aspects of the content.
