Not quite
Put vrand new batteries, still doesn't work. Does work as an old fashion hand twist sharpener, but you can get those at the dollar store. Not impressed.

Sharpener doesn’t always turn
The sharpener inside is supposed to turn around the pencil. For many pencils it doesn’t turn at all. Pretty useless.

I'm really amazed at how well this pencil sharpener works. I have a more expensive one but was looking for a smaller one that I could take with me for my color pencils. This one works better than my more expensive battery operated pencil sharpener.
