It is a very comfortable and practical hat. I spend a lot of time outside walking the dog in the cold rainy weather and this is a life savior. The front panel is water resistant and does a good job, it feels very comfortable and the size is good. Pony tail can be out or hidden. It is stretchy enough to hide a knot. Looks better with pony tail out. Perfect for the local weather 5C-10C. For colder temperatures I will be using my Columbia hat, but for mild, rainy days this is just what I need.

I had a favorite winter hat that I wore around the barn. It had a visor and a fleece flap to pull down over my ears or fold up. It started feeling a little tight and left marks across my forehead. This hat seems to have a larger bill so my sun protection is better and the flaps fold down and cover all my ears and back of my neck perfectly. I haven't had a chance to use it yet and hope the fit doesn't leave marks on my forehead. I like the quilted front since it matches my coat.EDITED I wore it yesterday for a dog walk in 28 degree weather with a small breeze and it was very comfortable and warm. It's a bit tricky to put on, trying to get all my ponytail and the rest of the hair to cooperate but once it's on it stays snug and the fleece over the ears and around the back of the neck stays in place and I was never cold. The large bill does a terrific job of blocking out the bright sun. After wearing it for about 40 minutes there were no marks on my forehead when I took it off.

I like it for keeping my hair out of my face,, and im glad I bought it -- But it's too big. I wear it with a headband to make it more snug -- because it blew off my head when I wore it on its own outside (even with my ponytail sticking through the hat) and then I was stuck with no hat at work all day - until the next day when it was found in a snow drift
