15 Seconds: A Novel

A real thriller!!
Well to do plastic surgeon Henry Steadman goes out to meet his friend for a round of golf before heading off to a conference. He gets pulled over for speeding and things get out of control. Not only is he goes to be charges for speeding but there is the little problem of being unable to prove insurance for his hire car and an attempt to drive the wrong way down a one way street.Amanda is a girl who has everything to live for. She sometimes needs a little lift and finds this in pills. As she is driving along, she isn't really aware of her surroundings and ends up knocking over a mother and her baby. Both die and she ends up in prison.Vance kmnows that his daughter (Amanda) needs to accept responsibility for what she's done but is she the only one to blame? Vance blames her drug dealing boyfriend, anyone who knows him. Most of all though he blames Henry. You don't realise that all of Henry's current problems are caused by Vance's need for vengeance until you are about halfway through the book. I have to say that finding this out did ruin the flow of the story for me a little bit because Vance is a father who is angry that his daughter has used drugs and is now in serious trouble. He wants to blame everyone who has any connection to drugs. The pace of the book is fast and does keep to hooked, although it's harder past the halfway mark but that's just me. I couldn't quite buy Vance's logic really considering that his daughter fully accepted responsibility for what she had done.

15 Seconds by Andrew Gross
Have enjoyed all of Andrew Gross's books, and this was no different. It took me a while to get into the book, but after the first or second chapter I was on a roller coaster ride, and I didn't want to put it down. The story was quite interesting, and you wonder if this could really happen. Really good read.

Gripping
First noticed this author as a partner of the prolific James Patterson. Since then I have read all his stories and yet to be disappointed. Great story telling with true characters, heroes and hidden curves
