I had always heard that the Whopper Plopper was one of the most effective lures for bass fishing. So, I decided to try it out, though it seemed a little expensive. In found that in the right circumstances and season (where they are hitting top water), the Whopper Plopper lure really works. It is much better than various top water frog lures. I deal with bass fishing in a local creek and have used every kind of lure you could imagine. The bass in this creek are are cautious and not very excitable. The Whopper Plopper is one of the few lures I've used that will actually excite the bass and entice them to strike in the moment. It will also attract them from further distances with all the noise and wake. With my very first cast with it, I reeled in a decent size bass, just like that. The only down side is that I've noticed it does a little more damage to the fish than I'd prefer (I catch and release). The dual treble hooks are razor sharp and sometimes I find one hook in the mouth and one embedded in the body of the fish from thrashing, etc. Overall a great addition to your tackle box and I would recommend that all bass fishermen have at least one of these. It's now my go-to lure for top water situations.

I have caught so many fish with this lure. It truly is the best plopper on the market, no other brands can compare to it's action and retrieve. Hooks are sharp and strong. It casts very far on the right setup. Really have no complaints besides the price. However if you are careful you will never lose one. I recommend getting the bone color and using minimum 12lb. Line on a medium rod. Bass and pike cannot resist.

Great lure. Ended up losing it from a weed snag, only had it for a couple weeks but caught 5 bass in one trip on this. Best lure I have ever owned, not cheaply made and high quality. The price is a little steep but it’s worth it, please buy.

I mainly fish the local river with the whopper plopper and catch mostly the smallmouth bass, pickerel and pike that are there. The 90 series is what I use mostly and it works great. I have tried a lot of different colors and I catch fish with all of them. My favorite is the PacMan. The 90 is a little more difficult to keep running true so the tail action works correctly and the 110 is easier to get that buzz action mostly due to its size and design. I have not tried the new 60 but I plan to for the next summer. I use slow action with some stop and go. The fish will chase it, but I like to keep it in the strike zone a little longer which is why I pause at times, especially when it first hits the water. I find that the fish will hit it within the first few seconds/feet. One of my favorite lures to go along with the buzz bait which is similar but the plopper floats vs the buzz that sinks.

This lure is an absolute bass magnet. If the top water bite is on, you will slay.

Now that this lure has been "christened" with it's first catch I can write a review. The bass just smashed it on the 3rd cast. The noise and water movement on the surface really get attention and the included hooks are razor sharp. If I ever lose this lure (God forbid) I will buy another straight away!
