Gravity Falls: Journal 3 Special Edition Hardcover – Special Edition, June 13, 2017

I preordered this back in October, and finally it is here!I already own the previous edition of Journal 3, and this one is even better! The book has a nice weight to it, and the pages look no different from the one's in the first edition, with the exception of how they look when the book is closed.The monocle was my biggest worry, as I had only seen photos of it online. But I was happy to be proven wrong once I took a look at it. The magnification works really well, and the cloth used to hold it place seems like it will last a long time as long you take care of it. The tassel book mark is also well made.Of course, the biggest feature of this book is the invisible ink on the pages. You simply hold your UV light up to the pages for a few seconds and then you turn off the lights to watch them glow in the dark. Every page that has this feature is a joy to read, and even though I've already look at all the invisible ink pages, it's still a blast to see. My only issue with the book is that a few letters seem faded, and don't pick up as well with the ink, which could simply be a production issue. But that has not hindered my ability to read them in the dark.Overall this a great book, and well worth the money. If you're a Gravity Falls fan and want something really special from the series, this Limited Edition book is a great buy!

This thing is nuts. I'm a sucker for special edition anything (still peeved over not getting the "Guardians" Doritos bag), so I knew I HAD to get this being an enormous GF junkie. My expectations were surpassed ... by leagues. The level of detail, the packaging (which I was LOATHE to open -- don't make the wrapping so darn cool, Disney!), the nostalgia ... it all makes me wish this show would come back again. Please, Mr. Hirsch, reconsider cancellation. This is a smart, inventive, engaging series that young people today NEED. An "X-Files" for the middle school set, if you will, but also one their parents can watch without wanting to shoot themselves. This journal alone demonstrates your love for the series and these characters. There are still so many stories in this journal (the doors! the beard cubs! the geodytes! the eternal key!) that deserve to be heard. You can make this happen! In the meantime, thanks for giving a mom a host of material for scary bedtime, campfire stories; I'm trying to do Grunkle Stan proud.

Wow!!! I have never seen a secret book before. The Gravity Falls Special Edition is just that. A secret book for the fanatic of Gravity Falls. Those who want to dive into the stories unknown. Join the characters of Gravity Falls on their journey through destruction and finding themselves. The invisible ink is obvious in some of the pages of the book, but shows really well with the black light. My nine year old son cannot get enough of this book. We were very lucky to be able to purchase one on Amazon when they randomly had some in stock in July. Unfortunately, he did open up the book even though I advised him that a book of this magnitude (only 10,000) made should be left in its case and unopened. Either way, it is a tremendous book for the Gravity Falls fanatic!!! Hope Journals 1 and 2 will eventually come out.

I almost canceled my pre-order multiple times and I'm so happy I didn't!! I am in love with it. Literally the only con is you need a good blacklight to read the book.Book is thicker than the original - the pages are thicker and rough cut on the edges. The photos and inserts aren't printed on the page but liftable. The cover is heavier and the hand/corners actually look metallic. While not raised or anything the cover is also textured. The page marking ribbon has a thick tassel on the end I'm afraid to use for fearing of damaging the spine."Blacklight" text is... faint. You need a good blacklight to get it to show up and you have to "charge" it. Its faintly visible when you catch it in the light at the right angle bc of the glossy print. But on pages its over text you can't read it.There's more ciphers for me to sit down and work on! And lots of commentary from your favorite triangle.

I'm 100% sure I don't regret spending my money on this. The invisible ink doesn't appear with the light like on the show but it charges and blows in the dark (i feel it's actually more cool like that?The actual pages aren't like the first journal 3, they feel more thicc and you can see what's behind the photos.Maybe it's more expensive than it's worth but was better than spend the $150 on the first month it come out.

It's awesome! As a fan of gravity falls I would say it worth every penny, and the time it took me waiting for it. The book is way thicker than the first edition, but it is like, 90% the same as the one in the show, the invisible ink is not the same though. Anyway, my new black light is on the way, and new puzzles are in the book waiting for me.

This is a thing of beauty! You can tell a lot of time and planning went into it being a great gift for the "hardcore" Gravity Falls fan. I am really happy with the quality and attention to detail. All the blacklight pages look great, and the magnifying glass is actual glass -- not some cheap plastic insert. The ciphers in the blacklight are great and easy to make out for the most part. So sad this show is done, but very happy to have the Journal in my collection!

OH BOY, AND HERE I THOUGHT I HAD SEEN IT ALL! I JUST COULDN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE ORIGINAL, SO SEEING THAT THIS CAME WITH MUCH MORE OF OL SIXER'S SECRETS (THAT I ALREADY KNEW, BY THE WAY), I JUST HAD TO GET IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. SURE, IT TOOK FOREVER TO COME, BUT YOU CAN REPAY THE AGONY OF WAITING BY CAUSING THE AGONY OF OTHERS USING THIS EXACT BOOK! I GIVE IT TWO THUMBS UP AND A WINK (TRUST ME, IM WINKING)! IT IS ALSO VERY SHINY AND HOLDS TOGETHER VERY WELL, ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING BURNED! BUY IT NOW.
