Perfect for the 4th generation Toyota Prius.
This is my second wireless carplay adapter after my ottocast died late last year, and is even cheaper. It fits perfectly in the area for the USB port in the fourth generation Toyota Prius. As you can see from the photo, my USB for CarPlay, AUX jack, and even my 12 V outlet are all directly behind my cupholders, and not inside my center console or at the bottom of my dash. This makes it difficult plugging anything in half the time. With the ottocast, it had a short cable on it which made it hard to mount up there, I tried using double-sided tape in front of the center console, but it never stayed. This style is a lot better for this vehicle because it’s more like a flash drive or it plugs directly in. You don’t need to use any of the adapters it comes with. Despite not being listed in the compatible vehicles, it still works with the factory carplay. The only issue I had was updating the software, after it downloaded it would get to 1% installing, and then the whole radio would restart and nothing else would happen. CarPlay would load back up again as if nothing happened. But I contacted support, and they were very quick in replying to me telling me that in that case, the radio is cutting power too fast. They told me to plug it into a powered USB port like on a computer. I did that, and it updated just fine. Maybe that’s what killed my last one I don’t know. But I know now for future reference with any other adapter to do this trick. My only issues with it are, and I had this with my other adapter, is there seems to be about a one or two second delay with the audio. This makes watching YouTube videos on my phone not possible unless I disconnect from the adapter, and whenever I pause at least from the steering wheel control, it will pause and then play about a half a second and then pause again. Again, this is either an issue with the vehicle or with wireless CarPlay adapters in general, but I’m not sure not having access to another make or model vehicle with carplay. The only other feature I could ask for with this adapter is have a passthru USB port for charging something else, my old one had this. Not required, but for my vehicle I am very low on power ports and anything helps.

Easy to set up and works well!
My Toyota vehicle is getting older and I’m tired of having to plug it in to use CarPlay. I was intrigued by this technology and after reading reviews, I thought this device was reasonably priced and had decent reviews. It arrived quickly thanks to Amazon prime. I simply plugged it in and scanned the QR code. I didn’t even even really thoroughly read the directions. It couldn’t have been, more simple to set up! It immediately connected via Bluetooth and I’m thrilled! Anytime I restart the car it immediately connects, no interruptions, and is not bulky in the vehicle. I’ve tried to show pictures of the device plugged in. It’s about the size of any other USB thumb drive. Maybe slightly larger, but is not unsightly and certainly doesn’t take up much space. More importantly, the functionality is perfect! Money well spent. It was easy to set up, came with two additional cords if I wanted to use them, but for me, this works perfectly! There are other more expensive devices, but this one was compatible with my vehicle and works great!

Bricked Our CarPlay
We’ll this started off great. I was able to follow instructions and connect effortlessly my iPhone to our car’s CarPlay wirelessly. Unfortunately, I added a second phone - my wife’s - seemingly without a problem. She gets in the car a little later and her phone doesn’t connect. After troubleshooting, I attempt to remove the AutoSky device from her phone and remove the device from our car in settings. After several attempts to restart the car with the Apple cable connected for CarPlay, the car and the phone no longer connected at all. AutoSky completely bricked my CarPlay. Unfortunately, I thought this little USB adapter would’ve been non-invasive. But instead, it messed up our car’s CarPlay and my wife’s phone’s ability to connect to CarPlay. I have not yet tried my phone to see if it will reconnect using the Apple cable but will later. I will not be trying other brands either for the potential risk and causing me to have to go for the car dealer/manufacturer for something so unnecessary. Contact appears to be email only. RED FLAG. I should’ve known better. I’m sure it may be good email support but having a tech company, you should really have a number to call if someone runs into tech issues so they can troubleshoot live. I’ll have to sacrifice wireless convenience for CarPlay system reliability. Glad it worked for others, but unfortunately not for us.

Works for me!
I bought this product with some hesitation due to some of the reviews here, but all is good! I drive a 2020 Toyota Corolla, the Apple CarPlay feature is wired only, but this adapter has made a world of a difference! Simple to set up and easy to update, however I had to update the adapters firmware with it plugged into my laptop as it kept getting stuck on 1% during the update, there are further instructions in the booklet that comes with the adapter but it worked flawlessly after that! I will say that the pair and boot up is slower after the firmware update for some reason and that is why I’m giving it 4 stars for now. All in all, this product does what it says it’ll do and worked for me! I cannot speak about audio quality since I’m not so much a of a audiophile, but the music player works and there is some delay between switching songs, but not a big deal for me. Give this adapter a try!

Good bang for buck
Im not sure what others are complaining about but this thing works just fine using a stock OEM head unit. I think aftermarket units run into problems a lot no matter how reputable the brand because they deviate from the specs given to OEM car manufacturers. Regardless what I love most is the slim low profile design of this unit. It's like a thumb drive and thats it. No wires, no giant block dangling around your cup holder area. Just super neat and tidy. My only complaint is that it's a little slow to boot up taking maybe 30-45 seconds on average to connect but thats it. I'm often a couple of blocks away from home before it finally kicks on, but you get what you pay for. Maybe the more expensive units have faster startup times. I dont mind it really. The actual performance is perfectly acceptable. People are complaining about a laggy UI, cmon who really cares about how fast the screen moves when you swipe? You dont really interact with carplay that much once it's going. GPS moving map animations are buttery smooth so there is no lag using waze/gmaps/apple maps. Sure if I click pause it takes like ONE SECOND to actually pause or skip a track, no big deal there at all. Scrolling through audio queues in spotify is fine. It's completely stable. I think I've had to replug it maybe twice in literally thousands of drives to "reboot" it because my phone just wasnt connecting for some odd reason, probably wasnt even the devices fault. I say this is a very easy buy. Although for 30 bucks extra if you can get something that boots in 10 seconds like my Android Motorola MA1 then it might be worth it for that.

It is not so seamless
I liked that this was plug and connect. Super simple. As for the connection, it’s Bluetooth so the audio is delayed, Navigation instructions don’t always come through. This is all normal for Bluetooth devices. If you already have wired CarPlay or you have another car with wireless CarPlay, there is a massive difference. The connection won’t automatically connect if you have AirPods connected, haven’t experimented much with this but I noticed. The main thing that gets me is the audio delay and seeing as it is more convenient to leave the phone in my pocket, I’m giving 4 stars. Day 2 of usage. Things have gotten worse. It’s so weird. Like, if I’m on the phone (a lot) on my AirPods, as soon as I get in the car, the phone tries connecting to the wireless CarPlay, this cuts the audio of the call from the AirPods. Once this has happened, you have to manually switch the audio back to the AirPods but now that you have done that, the phone refuses to connect to the wireless CarPlay to the point that I had to unpair and pair again to the receiver. Unplugging and plugging it back in does not always work. Like the title says, it is not seamless. In fact, it’s the opposite. It’s full of seams. Just all around finicky. 3 stars because when it does work (most of the time) it works great, not including the normal Bluetooth delay. A few days later… Seller reached out and offered me a full refund. 5 stars on customer service but unfortunately the item will remain at 3 stars. I can’t do 3.5 if I could and I would if I could.

Big Pleasant Surprise
This is my third dongle I purchased in a month for my cars with CarPlay. I wanted one for each of my cars for the convenience of not having to move a single single dongle from car to car. The first one is a Carlinkit and the second was an Ottocast. The Carlinkit is working fine in my Toyota after some configuration tweaks. The Ottocast was a return because it had trouble pairing with my phone. I also don’t want to use dongles from a single manufacturer by the way. I bought this Autosky because its thumb drive design is more fitting for my second car. My expectation was low since the Carlinkit while working, it has not impressived me at all due to the slow start up time and the occasional failure to connect. This is something I am currently tweaking with startup delay setting to correct. Startup is working 95% of the time without need to restart. Anyway, the Autosky has been flawless. It boots up faster and within 15 seconds. The delay when skipping songs is almost unnoticeable. I have also not heard a single audio drop in my music in a two hour drive. It looks like the support is great too because I have done two firmware updates in a week. So the support team are responsive to fixes and improvements. Best of all the Autosky dongle cost $30 less than the two more well known brands.

Works great in my RAV4
At first it gave me issues with the connection. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting in between. But I figured out, my head unit was always looking for my phone bluetooth to connect. Since then I have disabled bluetooth in the infotainment bluetooth settings of my 2022 RAV4 XSE. You can also unpair your phone if your car does not allow turning off bluetooth. Now, I just have the adapter plugged into USB all the time and it just connects within 5 secs of starting the car. No disconnections. No lags whatsoever. Another thing I really liked was how compact it was. You can plugin directly into USB port. Doesn’t take up any space. Or you can use USB A to USB A or USB C extensions provided along if you like it hanging around. Just 2 weeks into this device. Will update if I experience any issues. So far its seamless
