Gordon's robust and unique sound and his versatility make this a perfect addition to jazz aficionados' record collections.

Along with Coltrane and Mobley, Dexter Gordon is one of my favorite sax players.

From the early 60s, this album features Dexter in his prime. Lots of solos, not just of DG on the sax, but the other players as well, most of whom are big names in jazz on their own. Really good stuff.

Great expression of saxophone versatility. Love the variety of the compositions. Dexter Gordon never got the attention of Charlie Parker or John Coltrane, but he most definitely deserverd it! Take your time to listen to this CD and take it in openly and patiently and see what a masterful saxophonist and composer Dexter Gordon was!!!!!

An excellent set featuring Bobby Hutcherson on vibes recorded at the Rudy Van Gelder studios after two years in Europe, 'Gettin' Around' is a must for Dexter Gordon fans.

デクスターのテナーの線の太い魅力がたっぷりと堪能できる一枚。ベイシー楽団のフランク・フォスターの名曲「シャイニー・ストッキングス」とくれば、本家ベイシーのヴァーヴ盤や自前で歌詞をつけて当たり芸としたエラ・フィッツジェラルドのエラ・アンド・ベイシー（同じくヴァーヴ）などが名演の筆頭に挙げられますが、このデクスターのブルーノート盤も、お見事！と言うよりほかはない、素敵な演奏です。いつになく陽気で翳りのない音色は、ブルーノートらしからぬ・・・というと言い過ぎでしょうが、本当にリラックスした陽気なデクスターを捉えています。「黒いオルフェ」からの「カーニヴァルの朝」をはじめとして名曲揃い。共演者にも恵まれ、楽しいテナーを心ゆくまで味わえる佳品といえましょう。
