The seam is the weak point.
Used it for the first time today. Used it with Finis paddles for 5000 yards of freestyle pulling in outdoor 25 yard chlorine pool with air temperature 88 & water temperature 80. I'm 6'2" 260 & it worked well. Produces a little more drag than standard buoy but makes up for it by elevating feet higher than standard buoy. I'm doing open turns as I'm concerned that flip turns will put more stress on the weak point of this design which is the center seam. I was consciously squeezing my ankles together at the turns in order to put less stress on the buoy's seam. Even with doing this, I can feel the flexing at the seam and I'm seeing what looks like a tear starting. Someone else mentioned gluing theirs. I may try to find a cinch strap that I can wrap around the whole setup once I have it on my ankles. I think it will alleviate the flexing that is causing the motion allowing that seam to tear. If it weren't for this, 5 star product. Ideally if they made this out of one piece of foam cored out for the ankles, that would solve the issue.

Meh
My son has a lot of backward head tilt which causes him to scissor kick to compensate. We do a lot of buoy work and thought we'd give this a try. It fits my 7yo sons ankles perfectly. I can't imagine an adult or even older child could use this. It works, but for someone like my son who's trying to break the habit of separating his legs, hi ankles just slip right out. If it had some kind of strap to hold the opening closed, it might be useful to us. We'll stick to the traditional thigh buoy. For a more advanced (albeit smaller) swimmer who can isolate upper/core properly without kicking, this might be useful, but i just dont see much advantage over a regular buoy, especially for the price. It is well made and seems like it would last a reasonable service lifetime

Love this!
I'm bowlegged. Trying to use a regular swim buoy results in cramps and it still will regularly slip out. This one works great! My first one lasted 5 years and then wouldn't hold well so bought another.

super helpful after injuring my knee
I injured my knee and wanted something to limit the movement of my legs while recovering. Saw someone else using this product at the pool so I ordered it. It does the trick. Another benefit is that I use it as kickboard and it has helped me keep my knees together during flip turns. I am old and have not had any problems getting it on or keep it on. Works much better than the regular pull buoys for me.

Ottimo

Not a pull buoy... better!
This is a fabulous aid to add variety to your swim. This is my second ankle buoy from Finis - the previous one lasted over 2 years. I use it most days, for 1/3rd of my swim. Really great to work your abs, creating core strength. Terrific for lower back strengthening. Feels a bit unusual at first, but becomes the new 'best buoy' very quickly. Advice: start with 100m freestyle, increasing each swim session. Stick with it.
