Where is the USB port on the light unit? Is it accessible without removing the tail light from the saddle?

The USB port is located between the light and the rack. You need to remove the tail light from the rack to charge it.

Does the brake feature activate under light braking, or only during moderate and heavy braking?

It is quite sensitive. The brake light will activate with any braking.

How quickly does it brighten when braking? Can it be set to stay off and only come on when braking?

It brightens immediately upon sensing the bike slowing down. There are 4 modes, and the light must be turned on for the brake light function to work.

Does it have a low or dead battery indicator on the handlebars?

No. There are four small blinking blue dots in the center of the light unit. When all four blink, it indicates a 100% charge; three dots mean 75%, and so on.
