I ordered this as I have been having problems with blown HDMI ports on my Samsung UHD TV that just started late last year. I am using a good quality surge suppressor so suspected that there was possibly a spike coming through my Xfinity cable TV coax. Just to be sure I ordered this coax suppressor. This part is plug and go - no settings on the TV need to be changed. The quality of the TV's picture, sound and operation was not impacted by the use of this part. I have Xfinity X1 service which uses a technology called MOCA (Multimedia over Coax) which is essentially internet service running over the coax cable which can only be accessed by the Xfinity system. This internet over coax permits you to record a program on a DVR in 1 room and then watch in another, downloads the TV schedule from Xfinity's servers, etc. If a X1 connected TV can not use MOCA then the Xfinity service will not work. This part, as advertised, is MOCA compatible and all X1 functions continued to work after connecting this suppressor. I also tested this suppressor on the coax connected to my Xfinity internet box and there was no impact on home internet performance. I tested the internet speed before and after attaching this suppressor using Ookla’s speed test and the speed, jitter, packet loss, etc. were virtually identical with and without the suppressor attached. I can’t attest to how effective this part would be with a surge coming over the Xfinity coax but at least I am sure that the use of this part won’t make things worse and based on the specs will almost certainly reduce the possibility of an electrical surge damaging my equipment.

You will see lots of reviews on here of people saying this is a peice of junk and/or they lost most or all of their channels after installing it. I even saw one reviewer questioning the 5 star reviews of this product. some do raise red flags for authenticity, so I figured I'd give you my take as a satisfied customer so far. I give 4 stars because I haven't had a lighting strike hit my house, and I probably never will considering where I live. This review is strictly about the devices preformance in maintaining signal quality. There are 80 possible stations that I can receive in my area. I installed this surge protector and tested the signal. I'm still receiving every single channel (all 80). So, in my case this is a good product and it did not distort or weaken my signal enough to loose any channels (granted I have a high quality antenna) I have no idea if it can protect against lighting, and I don't wanna find out. If you get a dud, ask for a new one.

This device has a high surge protection rating and a low price. Plus it installs in a minute or two. I installed ours where the cable enters the house, before it is split to the various rooms that have either cable or internet, which provides whole house protection. I have seen no degradation in picture quality or internet performance. For all these reasons this deserves a five star rating

The item is a lightning arrestor. If (when) it works it will be what it was made for. If it doesn’t work then the house will be in jeopardy from a lightning strike. The ratings say that it will work as intended.& I bought it with the intention that it does.

Holy cow, it works on DirecTV! This protector does not have any specs. Most of these work to 1 or 1.5 GHz. DirecTV has signals to 3 GHz. For that matter, so does Dish, but Dish splits the signal over 2 cables. I doubted it would work, but for $4, I was willing to take a chance. Due to the width of the barrel, I was not able to install it where I wanted. However, the location I wanted is also outside and unprotected. Instead, I connected it to my APC Surge protector where the cable enters. This ensures a decent ground through the electrical system, but not ideal. I'm ordering 2 more to protect the other TV's. I did notice some transponder signals dropped from 100 to 99. I can live with that. Of course only time will tell if it actually does anything, but it's insurance. I did not have any trouble with crossed threads as others mentioned. The device seems solid and well made. I highly recommend it. In fact, I may order a few extra for my customers.

This inline filter seems to be made from quality material. Unfortunately, I had a signal problem with the one I recieved, but the company quickly addressed all of my concerns. So no worries.
