Great Outdoor Camera
This is a great product, easy to install with the App as long as your near a WiFi signal. Easy to setup streaming on your iCloud account and you can stream through all motion detection events. No monthly streaming fee if you discount your iCloud account which is pretty cheap. Physically it is a little difficult to mount and does not accommodate your standard round metal junction box so if your planning on mounting near one of these you’ll have to remove it. I’ve used other camera’s for HomeKit and their all terrible, intermittent streaming, login issues, constantly logging you out, won’t stream captured events, the list goes on. This camera has NONE of those problems, it works reliably and flawlessly and I think is the only one that actually streams to iCloud which is secure and reliable. Great purchase and buying more of them!

Do not purchase. Not worth the headaches.
Here’s a clear, professional 1-star Amazon review that stays factual and credible (those tend to carry more weight): ⸻ ⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely frustrating setup, unreliable with common ISP routers I wanted to like this camera, but the setup experience was a nightmare. Despite having a strong 2.4 GHz network, a HomePod mini, and multiple other Apple HomeKit devices, the Eve Outdoor Cam repeatedly failed during the HomeKit Wi-Fi handshake. The camera would broadcast its own setup network, but HomeKit could not reliably complete onboarding. After hours of troubleshooting, factory resets, network reconfiguration, and even an on-site ISP visit, the only way to get the camera connected was by using WPS on my router. Once connected, it later dropped off the network entirely and required repeating the same painful process, without successfully ever getting it paired again. Key issues: • Extremely sensitive to router configuration • Poor compatibility with ISP-provided routers (Calix / CommandIQ in my case) • Fails silently during setup with vague error states • Drops connection and does not reliably rejoin Wi-Fi • No clear guidance from Eve on required network settings This is not a “plug and play” HomeKit accessory. If you don’t run your own fully configurable router and understand Wi-Fi security, channels, and multicast behavior, expect frustration. For the price, I expect reliable onboarding and stable connectivity. Unfortunately, this product does not meet that standard.

Solid HomeKit Camera
If you're looking for a HomeKit Secure Video camera that works right out of the box without having to sign up for some third-party app/service, this is the camera you'll want. I see some folks have complained about getting these installed in North American homes, but it appears Eve now supplies the adapter plate in the box from the get-go instead of having to request it separately from their website. (That said... if you bought one & it didn't include the adapter plate, you can reach out to Eve's customer service. They'll hook you up with one for free if you're in the US.) Installation was straightforward enough. Post-installation, the camera's been flawless with no downtime whatsoever. As always, a smart home with smart accessories requires good WiFi coverage. I have my home blanketed with Nest WiFi points, for reference. HomeKit is running in my home with an Apple TV 4K acting as the hub (via WiFi, not ethernet). If you are having WiFi issues, try to improve your WiFi signal where the camera is located. Build quality is also solid. It seems robust & well-designed to withstand the elements. The camera doesn't go offline even in the extreme summer heat we just dealt with in the US Southeast. That's been an issue with my Logitech Circle View Doorbell, so I'm glad to see Eve accounted for high temperature operation. Video quality could be better, but I chalk that up to a HomeKit Secure Video limitation. Until Apple allows for 1080p+ video quality on HomeKit, we're stuck with 1080p as the maximum. Video quality as-is is sufficient to make out cars, faces, animals, etc. You may miss finer details (like car license plates) at a distance due to the low 1080p resolution, however. The viewing angle is very wide, which should allow for total coverage of your driveway (as an example) from one installation point. Audio & speaker quality is also good. I can clearly hear outside noises & make out what visitors are saying from my iPhone. Audio output from the camera itself is also good, with visitors able to clearly understand what I'm saying from my iPhone. Night vision is also good, with the built-in IR doing its job in providing nighttime visibility for the camera without having to activate the floodlights. When the floodlights do activate, they're quite bright! In fact, they're brighter than my old "dumb" floodlights that were replaced with this Eve camera. Brightness can be modified on a scale via the Eve app, with an extra bright option available for short periods of time. The floodlight can be setup to turn on only when it detects motion (in general) or specific motion (from cars, animals, people, etc.). It's the standard fare that you'd expect from a HomeKit camera. You can modify the usual settings from Apple's Home app, with additional options available via the Eve app. (The Eve app does not require a separate signup/login.) Overall, I like this camera very much. I haven't tried the other outdoor HomeKit camera options (other than the aforementioned Logitech Circle View Doorbell) so I can't provide a proper comparison, but I can certainly say that I'd be happy to purchase another one of these in the future if I decide to expand my HomeKit camera coverage. Edit: As of 4/29/25, my thoughts on this camera have not changed. Everything I wrote before still applies. I'm now coming up on nearly two years of this camera and I've had zero issues to report. For those wondering if I still recommend this camera... I do!

Let’s start with design, it’s a small device with big capabilities, I went with black. It has a really nice finish and has that apple-seque quality. The LED light takes up most of the space with the camera and microphone taking up the rest. I love the simplicity of the device and the fact it’s hard wired. Next mounting, I have read issues with mounting on a number of reviews, and whilst it took a little more thought, the junction box adaptor works on all types (the bracket is free from Eve if needed) we decided to remove the junction box for the aesthetics and that did make it a little easier but if you follow the video installation you can’t go wrong. All in took about an hour to from old fitting and junction and remount the Eve Outdoor Cam. Then setup, I think once powered on it was a simple quick process through the Eve app and linking to Apple Home for HomeKit. Super easy. The video quality is 1080p so nothing super high definition but it’s adequate for a security camera, it offers great night vision with or with out the assistance of the light. The light is very very bright, currently I have it set to 5% and the is enough illumination for my front lawns , walkway and porch. 100% or boost is almost blinding. Finally connectivity, so it’s been up for over 2 weeks now and had no issues with dropping wifi or not connecting, it is set up to only notify for an activity zone and it works perfectly (tested thoroughly). Unit has been down to -15C and works like normal. Overall the cost is a little higher but for HomeKit I think it’s one of the nicest options and offers value as it is a light and camera (with a microphone) so in my can it’s used like a door bell camera. I have to say that I fully recommend this product.

I really wish I had not purchased this camera. There are far cheaper cameras with better quality and performance. Not sure how they are charging over $300 for this. I would not recommend this to anyone. Buy literally any other camera.

The picture and sound quality are very impressive. Installation was standard and it connected to my HomeKit with little hassle (had to do a hard reset before my phone would pick it up, however I was having electrical issues anyways and I believe it would of been turned on and off several times while that was being fixed). The only complaint I have, is I wish they would have made the installation box square instead of circle, since the standard light box that is recessed into the way (not noticeable) is square. I had to carve a bit of wood away to have it fit into the old space. I know they made it circle because of the security feature but I think there could have been a better way. I did notice a couple of times when I’ve opened my Home app, that the camera “is not responding” … my Logitech doorbell does this as well. I upgraded my Internet in hopes to correct the issue but it didn’t work. I just purchased a wifi extender in hopes that’ll help. Overall happy with this purchase and would buy again.

The quality looks real good and it works well . It included everything you need to install including the mounting plate. I found it easier to install if you removed the camera bracket and feed the wire through and installed the c clip . The instruction book is very small and the print hard to read. It took about a half hour to install camera , ten minutes to bypass light switch and about fifteen minutes to install software and setup. The system is quite expensive , but if it lasts a long time i do think it is a good investment. The picture looks good and the light also works well. I would recommend and buy again at this point.
