ZINUS Van 16 Inch Metal Platform Bed Frame / Steel Slat Support / No Box Spring Needed / Easy Assembly, King

My wife and I had this thing together in about 30 minutes or less. I admit I got a little "stuck" on the very first step, but once my wife helped me envision that first step, the rest was simple. The frame assembles in 11 steps, with each step marked by part letters on the instruction sheet that corresponds to the metal parts. The frame comes with the necessary screws, some wrenches, and a few spare screws/bolts, plus the metal bed parts themselves. This thing is VERY sturdy. We bought the king size with the 16" legs, so our frame is large and somewhat high (you can get this in any size, and also with 12" legs). But even so, the extensive grid of connected metal parts, some of which are bolted together, some of which are screwed together, and others that just slip into place, make for a very rigid completed structure. All the parts came together without issue, there were no missing parts, and all the legs were of the correct height, making a level assembly on a flat floor (i.e., no legs were too short, with a gap underneath). It was fantastic when finished, because we could then dispense with the dreaded "box spring," all of which seem to creak and squeak, plus never seems to provide the support you want, particularly if you deal with lower back problems. You may sense with this frame, like with most any frame, some transfer movement from your partner when he or she rolls over, but it is VERY minimal. The upper frame parts are also covered with both sticky tape to keep the mattress in place and also thick rubber overlays at certain points to reduce noise. The assembled frame really is very quiet. So, you just open the box, read the directions while you review the parts, assemble the frame step-by-step using the provided tools, then put your mattress directly on the frame, and you are done! You can also purchase a bed skirt to go around the sides for a finished look, and a headboard can also be attached at the front if desired. Of course, if you need to move the frame, you can disassemble it, and then reassemble it anytime. The frame is too heavy and unwieldy to pick up and move in its assembled state. Beyond the sheer quality and sturdiness of the thing, I keep asking myself how they can sell this frame so inexpensively. I guess it's because, in the end, it is simply a set of metal rods, screws, and bolts, and so production economies of scale kick in. But I can truly say I wish I had purchased this thing years ago. It's sturdy, super firm quiet, and can be disassembled if necessary. We both give it our highest rating.

Are you looking for something affordable, simple and sturdy? This was exactly what we were looking for and I’m super impressed. We originally got this to replace our previous boxspring that was made by the same company we purchased the mattress from. It was made of wood and completely broken so we needed something strong that would hold up. I’m very handy and I can usually tell if something is going to be a pain to put together or flimsy pretty quickly. However, I was immediately impressed with the materials and the fact that they included a nice ratchet wrench. It took me about 30 minutes or so to put together. We got the king size for our guest room so the box was pretty heavy. It says to use two people to carry it. I always say, “two people or one stubborn DIY-er”. I was able to get this down into our basement and set it up all alone. I like that this is 16 inches off the floor. Our guests will have room to fit their bags under the bed and out of the way. This does have metal cross bars which could make noise over time. However, they have put a foam strip down the center support rod which prevents any noises from occurring for now. The only negative for me is there would be no way to attach a headboard. I’m sure you could figure it out though if that’s something you decided on doing.

UPDATE 3: Going on 3 years with this bed frame and I have to say this is one of the best frames after it has gotten over its creekiness. Like a few other people have said if you tighten up the screws and spray them with a little WD40 after about a week or so of sleeping on it then it is a really good bed. We recently moved and when we put it back together I didn't have to use the WD40 again for it to not be squeaky. Still wish it had a little bit of a lip to it so the mattress didn't move around too much because once you move the mattress the sticky pads come off a little bit and aren't as sticky to hold it down, but they are still good. Definitely worth the buy and I 100% suggest this brand to everyone. 5/5 stars. UPDATE 2: The squeak has gotten so horrible it wakes us up. Going to try tightening and wd40 like others said. Hope that works. EDIT: Have used this bed for a few weeks now and it has started to creek worse than any wooden bed I've had. Idk what to do to make it stop by is disappointing with the bed being so nice and sturdy. I'm not a fan of the og type of bed with the wooden slats because of the noise they make, and how unsecure they feel just sitting there(think Ikea beds). So when I found this one I was super excited! Its super sturdy, just the right height(even for someone who is 5'6 like me), and was super easy to put together even alone. Only thing I wish there was a sort of recess for the mattress to sit into instead of it just chilling on the top, but the sticky pads to keep it in place.

I assembled this bed frame by myself in under an hour and it was very sturdy and did not squeak. After having the bed frame for maybe 2-3 weeks I sat on the edge of the bed and felt it slide - I thought it only slid across the floor as I have hardwood but it seems that the frame actually tilted as well because the support leg in the middle was slanted like a kick stand. I am only about 110lbs so that should not have happened from me sitting down normally. I tightened the screws on that part of the frame to see if that would fix it but the issue continues to happen, and now the bed squeaks a bit as I move around during the night. I was initially very impressed with the sturdiness and quietness of the frame but now I’m a bit disappointed. It’s still fully functional, just a little bit annoying.

It's simple, I needed an easy to assemble, stable bed platform that didnt squeak everytime I moved. I got it! Pros: - I was able to assemble it myself without any issues. I cheated and used a torque limited electric drill/driver and got the job done much quicker. Taking it apart for moving also looks to be an easy thing. - The rounded legs are a nice touch. Hopefully I won't be kicking them anytime soon. - I purposely looked for something with some ground clearance so I could store extras underneath. Still in the process of making some bed skirts (with some extra flat sheets that I never use). - They don't squeak!!! This is the most important feature I was looking for in a metal platform. - Mild adhesive strips on the bed surface holds your mattress in place. My mattress hasn't moved at all but I wonder how this feature will hold up over time. Cons: - Not a jumping bed. Not that I would but as durable and stable as it feels I don't think it can handle any serious abuse. - Has a few exposed bolt heads on the outside. Hence the skirts I'm making for it. - No other cons. I'm very happy with this platform especially for the price! This could have easily been a cheap piece of junk that I would have had to live with because of the minimal cost, but I ended up getting just what I needed. This supports my bed-in-a-box mattress just fine without any additional modifications. I'd buy this one again and even recommend it to friends.

The instructions were easy and straight forward includes all of the bolts and they give you a cool tool to tighten the bolts which makes it 10xs faster. And you get to keep it for future projects. Definitely would buy again. Especially since you save $ and space without a box spring. Pretty sturdy. First day sleeping on it and I am very happy. I would buy this over again if need be looks like I will be keeping this for a long time. I don’t write reviews but I’m really happy! Also excited to be able to put things under my bed last bed frame had no space under so this time I can store away things and make more room in my bedroom by utilizing the extra space underneath. Buy it! It got here early so that was a plus! Sincerely a very happy customer. Also driver was super friendly and leave them some snacks out and water holidays are. Crazy

After my nectar foundation failed, and the parts shipping was going to take months to get me the new side rails, I ended up ordering this in the middle of the night. I read all of these reviews, watched a few videos, and ended up pulling the trigger. The assembly is daunting, no doubt about it. There are many separate pieces, but they are all clearly labelled. The little ratchet tool is great. It took me probably about 45 minutes to complete the build after pulling the old frame apart. The parts all go together well. The instructions are clear and simple. I made sure to add rubber/felt pads to the bottom of the feet and a anti-slip mat to hold the mattress still. The frame is sturdy, and actually makes my mattress much more comfortable than the nectar frame. I don't feel the slats under me at all. The storage underneath is huge, and wonderful. I now have my blankets in tubs and I can fit 4 rubbermaid tubs, and two rubbermaid under bed sheet storage boxes under this monster. Overall I strongly recommend this foundation. I have slept on it 2 nights now, and it doesn't squeak, or creak (Unlike the old nectar foundation) The pads on the bottom of the feet make the floor safe from the legs. The only thing I need to address is putting a pool noodle on the side legs to avoid ripping my toes off on it.

I have loads of Zinus products, and I prefer them because they always have good packaging and their hardware pack is good quality with a few extras in case you drop or lose a piece. The metal finish is consistent, bolt holes align, and the ease of construction is worth it. Also, if you call customer service, a human answers. This frame height is great for those who need a slightly higher bed to make it easier to get in or out - hip, knee issues, whatever. We have it paired with a 12 inch mattress, and it is quite comfortable getting in or out. Highly recommend.

La base es "facil" de armar aun para una sola persona. No hace ruido pese a ser de este material uno pensaria que rechinaria o haria algun ruido. tiene dos factores que no le favorecen, ambos desde mi perspectiva personal , una por error mio y la otra es bastante ambigua. la base es tan ligera, que hace que toda la cama se mueva con facilidad, lo cual puede ayudar para la limpieza o entorpecer el uso si la cama se pega a una pared. y la segunda , error mio, pedi modelo queen para una cama matrimonial y sobra muchisimo espacio en la base, fijense bien en eso antes de pedirla. como referencia, peso 100 kilos y la base soporta sin problemas

Excelente opción para los que se mudan de vivienda ya que se desarma fácilmente y se puede transportar en un auto, resistente segura firme y de buena calidad, también fácil de armar, lo recomiendo ampliamente.

These are only first impressions as I only just installed the platform yesterday. But I am pleased. It frees up a pretty substantial amount of space not having the box spring, which I appreciate both visually (makes the room feel more open) and functionally (makes it much easier to clean under the bed, and can be used for storage). Assembly was relatively painless. I give a lot of credit for them including a ratchet, rather than just the standard Allen wrench, as I found that exceptionally useful. The way the instructions are set-up is unique from my experience, but it worked well enough. All the parts are labelled with numbered stickers, but they don't identify the part, they identify a specific *location* on the part. You line that up with diagrams in the instructions, e.g. that show a 2 and a 2 locking together. It's curious that the numbers are not entirely unique, they are duplicated in multiple places on multiple parts, but with some light deduction you can figure it out. There aren't that many parts to get confused with, and the shapes are sufficiently different. It is a bit confusing that the instructions have letter identifiers for each part, but the parts are not labeled with those letters. You'd have to look at the manual and figure out which letter is which part based on shape, but this is redundant since you can also just look a the shape of the part in the assembly diagrams. Anyways it sorts itself if you take your time. The parts fit together snugly and I have confidence in the strength and stability of the platform. There is adhesive on some the support beams to prevent the mattress from slipping around. That is useful, because otherwise there would not be a lot of friction between the mattress and the metal platform. Though this does make it more challenging to get the mattress in place. It might be easier if you had someone helping you to gently lay the mattress in the specific correct position (as opposed to me, working alone, flopping it onto the platform and then needing to fight the adhesive to adjust it to the correct position). I am happy to be freed of my decade-old box spring, and to have replaced it with something more space-efficient and durable. My cat ripped off the fabric covering the bottom, and amidst the wooden beams and springs discovered an exciting jungle gym for him to bounce around in at 4 am.
