Q: I can’t find my instructions. I see that the carbon filter should be changed every 2 weeks but what about the black ring one? Can I just rinse it out?

I don't change my filter that often and I think rinsing the ring is okay, but I didn't get instructions either. I'm basing my answer on a previous water fountain I had before this one.

Q: Will it work without the filter? My water is already filtered and purified.

It could work without but the water continuously recirculates; which can become impure from the cat hair that falls into the water bowl. The charcoal filters while the black sponge filter keeps the hair from going into the pump. Still my favorite water bowl ever….

To the seller or who actually tests the water reservoir to see if it is 304 stainless steel, not just the top plate? Stainless steel is not magnetic.
