my rods 84 inch long 7ft but my rod is the 30+ years old it doesn't have the fighting type gimble thats on the new poles. the rod I bought was for a friend and he hates it cause it uncomforable hold in your belly when reeling in fish from deep water while bottom fishing

This is a medium action and the flex is toward the tip. This would be best for pitching a large bait or an iron jig. I think a slow pitch rod would be more flexible throughout the length of the rod.
