The most satisfying sprinkler I have ever owned
This sprinkler is actually fun to use, the multiple adjustments permit you to precisely control exactly where the water goes, no matter the odd dimensions of your yard. It lays down a heavy supply of water, so it's satisfying to watch it go back and forth, back and forth. Like watching a Zamboni ice rink cleaner or a small brook flowing, or a gentle log fire. Relaxing. The metal base is heavy enough so it stays where you put it. The hose to sprinkler connection has ribs to turn it easily. The controls are solid and work smoothly. It sprays water a very long distance, and I have just ordinary water pressure. I'd say this will last 10 years or more. The caveat is not to abuse it by slamming it into the ground, yanking it around, stepping on it. The control levers aren't designed for that kind of abuse. They'll break. Same for the little rubber nozzles. They squirt the water perfectly, but they aren't metal, they're flexible plastic of some sort, and are delicate. Step on 'em, smash 'em into anything, and they won't be perfect any longer. Possibly the hardness of your water could be a factor that would eventually change that perfection. The water where I live comes off a glacier and is incredibly soft - no minerals. Another reason I expect this sprinkler to last 10 years.

Like rain from above!
Love this sprinkler! I havent used a lawn sprinkler in decades but I am using a lawn company now and some of the applications require watering the lawn so I had to get something. I am not at all an expert on the size of an area, so I cannot attest to the 4000 sq ft claim, but I can say that I have a HUGE front yard and I only had to move the sprinkler 3 times (actually a bit more because I had to figure out the settings and the right place in the yard but I marked 3 positions in the yard). Its super-easy to connect and use. I didnt use the quick connect accessory that it comes with because I dont have those connections on anything else - because I have never had any that didnt leak and pretty much hate them - so I cant tell you if the quick connect accessory works as it should or not. As good as the sprinkler is, I would expect that it does work. I love all the adjustments that you can make to the amount of water being sprayed and the spray area - that is actually what I like most about it. The adjustments allow you to be very intentional about where you want the water and minimizes wasting water by watering the driveway, the street, or your neighbors yard. Yes - its all plastic, but isnt most everything these days. It is lightweight and feels durable. The connection to the hose is water tight and there is no leaking anywhere within the unit. The water goes in where it should and comes out where it should. I believe that if you dont treat it like a caveman or let it sit out in the sunlight all the time when not in use, it should last about as long as you can expect a $35 appliance to last. Very happy with my purchase - highly recommend!

Great idea but plagued with too much cost cutting
I think this sprinkler is a fantastic idea plagued with cost cutting materials. It works great and I have enjoyed using it but some of the plastic pieces have already broken from either too much sun exposure or poor choice of materials. I was smitten by the cast metal base on this version but it really won't help with product longevity because the plastic parts are what make this sprinkler work and are the parts that will fail long before the base will.

Works very well
I have been using impulse sprinklers for decades. I have been setting them up in the corners of rectangular areas and moving them around to the other corners for far too long. I should have picked up one of these decades ago. This oscillating sprinkler is very easy to adjust to the shape that you need. I have the three-way adjustable model with a plastic base. You don't need the metal base; it is stable as it is. The metal base is just an aluminum shell and not much heavier anyway. I do wish I would have picked up the one with a built-in timer. It is easy enough to set a timer on my watch, but a built-in timer would have been nice. I may buy one of those too so I can set up an area and go to bed. The spray pattern is tight enough to give very even coverage. The area covered is much larger than expected. I wasn't sure whether or not to believe the manufacturer's claim, but I am able to water an area over 3,000 sq ft easily.

Watering is a breeze with this Melnor lawn sprinkler.
This Melnor lawn sprinkler is perfect for our front yard. Our yard has two sections divided by the walkway to our porch. One section is 16' x 16' and the other is 16' by 22'. I use this sprinkler on each section individually for easy of set up. The adjustable spray mechanism makes it simple to widen your coverage and deepen the coverage. I've used this for two seasons so far and it still works like a charm. It's lightweight plastic so store it away carefully between seasons so it doesn't get stepped on. It comes w/timer and easy disconnect so you can turn it on before going to bed and not worry, it will turn itself off.

Precision adjustable patterns. Perfection!
This is the most precisely adjustable sprinkler that I have ever owned. Without getting my sneakers wet, I was able to precisely cover my front lawn and garden, stopping just short of the driveway and sidewalk. Click stops on the forward-back settings provides a reference point for fine adjustments. My hose was not quite long enough for me to center the sprinkler on my lawn, but the split adjustment allowed me to precisely cover the desired area anyway. This is a well thought out, designed and engineered product. It is worth every penny. I opted for the metal base model because of negative past experience with all-plastic sprinklers. The quick-connect adapter was a nice bonus. Again, the voice of experience told me that it is far easier to quick connect than to screw the hose directly to a sprinkler.

I've got a similar design (old model) Gardena sprinkler that appears to no longer be made- this seemed to be the closest option. The Melnor has got a couple of useful features over the Gardena- adjustable water pressure at the sprinkler and independent adjustment of each side to control the pattern width. I've used it a couple of times and overall have been very happy except for one apparent issue- this Melnor sprinkler requires high water pressures to get a decent coverage. I've got a compact hose (8mm diameter on a reel) that works fine with the Gardena sprinkler- it's got plenty of pressure to drive it. However, the Melnor is lucky to be able to cover 3m in either direction using this small diameter hose. At first i thought there was a blockage somewhere, but there wasn't. The water pressure adjustment was at full flow too. Then today I notice some other reviews mention the same problem. Apart from that pressure issue, it's shaping up to be a decent sprinkler. Just not on a small diameter hose.

Very good reviews on the web but it is not really that good or I had a "blue Monday" exemplar? 2 of the water beams next to each other were not good aligned so a small part of the grass was not really covered. Also when it runs a distinct part of the water was immediately leaking from the device into the ground. I

Garbage, it broke within 1 month. Couldn't be bothered chasing for a refund, I binned it. The spray pattern was pretty bad too and didn't reach the quoted lengths.

Requires a substantial water pressure to give Flow limmitationsmax spread

We have restrictions as to size and shape of the lawn areas. This sprinkler works ! We are having a terrible heatwave right now and the sprinkler is used twice daily. Adjusting for the cover area is easy, many different scenarios. It appears to be well made, yes, it’s made out of some kind if plastic but hopefully a decent material. So far, i love our new sprinkler.
