Lightweight and Maneuverable!
I was looking for a lightweight vacuum to keep upstairs and the battery powered ones I tried didn't last the time I needed. I found this corded Shark that had been refurbished and I was leary. I never buy used items, except a car once years ago. This one had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. It is my first Shark. I was hoping I wouldn't get a beat up one and ordered the 3 year protection plan, just in case. It came carefully packaged in a Shark box. I could see a small dent on the metal tube but the attachments looked brand-new and it was clean. One of the reviewers said the mainpole was too long for them and couldn't be shortened. The length did not affect me, and I am only 5'1". As soon as it was assembled I put it through its paces. On my laminate flooring in the kitchen, breakfast room, powder room and laundry room, it maneuvered easily around chair legs, under cabinets and in the space next to the toilet, where my larger vacuum doesn't fit. I have waterhog mats at all our house entrances. This vac easily picked up the bits of dirt, dust, pet hair, sand, shavings (I have horses and a barn) that accumulate there. It didn't matter if I used the carpet or hard floor setting. It still picked up the grit either way. The rest of the house is carpeted with medium pile carpet that is old. On the carpet setting the vacuum pulls itself along making moving it easy. Pulling it back to me took more effort, but was doable, and I am 73. If I went too fast the vac's head would slightly lift off the carpet on the back stroke because it has good suction. To remedy this, I just put my free hand lightly on the pole to keep the vac's head on the carpet.(This isn't an issue on hard flooring.) This vac picked up the nap on our older carpeting which is a plus! I did not mind cleaning the vacuum. The cup isn't huge and at first I could see it quickly fill up with not just pet hair (we have a shedding dog and two fluffy cats that live inside.) but dust and grit from way down deep in my old carpeting. I know this because I vacuum weekly with our German made central vac that I thought was getting everything. I am vacuuming a lot more frequently with this Shark since it is so easy to set up. I think that with repeated vacuuming the dust cup won't need to be emptied as frequently. I do like the way the dust, dirt and hair easily drops out of the dust cup into the trash when I push the button. (I sent one cordless back because the dust and hair wound around the filter and I had to use my fingers to remove it so it would empty into the trash. Not fun.) Compared to my central vac this is a snap to set up. No long hose to drag around. It is light and easy for me to carry up and down the stairs. So far I keep it downstairs and it easily fits in our laundry room closet leaning against the wall. It doesn't stand up on its own but that isn't an issue for me. I can lean it against something or lay it on the floor. The light weight and maneuverability make it easy for me to use. There are some cons. The cord is about 25 feet long so it isn't quite long enough to reach as far as needed. A 30 foot cord would be ideal. Although opening the dirt cup is easy by pushing a button, I was not sent any replacement filters. The directions say to change/clean them monthly. Hoping I am able to easily find the filters online. It would be nice to have a new set included. The switch that changes from hard flooring to carpeting sometimes sticks and has to be pushed several times. I hope this is not a weak point that may fail in the future. I discovered that Shark has so many new models that it was difficult to choose one. For now I am happy with my selection since I was able to buy this refurbished vac for less than $100 including the 3 year protection plan with free shipping. I think that in a two story home with four bedrooms more than one vacuum is needed. As I've aged, I find I am more apt to clean if it is convenient. I still love my central vac for heavy duty cleaning and my cordless for quick clean ups in small areas. But this corded Shark is doing a great job of cleaning upstairs (fits under the beds easily) and downstairs, including on the carpeted stairs, my least favorite place to clean. So this is my honest review of the shark refurbished UV580 extra light corded stick vacuum. Oh, and no hair wrap noticed either.

Omg! Never going back!
Can I say WOW! I’ve always used ‘inexpensive’ vacuums. I was never taught that buying some things higher end can make sense in the long run. I’ve since learned but hadn’t realized what I was missing in the realm of vacuums!! I have wood floors with many carpets throughout each room. My last vacuum is a battery powered ‘rechargeable’ model. I spent maybe 125$ on it. The most is ever spent on a vacuum! It sucked! Well, it didn’t suck! At all. The suction was terrible. It was ok on wood floors but was only picking up what was on top of carpets at best. I realized that a corded option was the best way to go so I almost bought another crappy brand and then saw the Shark refurbished. For 55$! I thought…. Refurbished? That’s weird. Someone else’s vacuum? But a shark! I’ve always wanted a Shark! Well! I couldn’t be more impressed! My son put it together and really enjoyed that the handle, canister click in and long tube all assembled and mimicked a Star Wars gun! Anyway!! Then we put the foot on. It’s looks really cool too! Plugged it in and wow! I could hear the power and suction! I was now in a different world! The world of ‘nice’ vacuums! My son proceed to vacuum all our rugs! He was having a blast and showing me how the canister was filling up with each rug. It was disgusting! I can’t believe what was NOT being picked up for so long. I won’t share a picture as I’m sure you get the idea. My rugs look like they have been professionally cleaned! Seriously! I’m blown away. I’ve never been in love with a vacuum! I’m now in love with this slick gorgeous little gem! It moves so smooth. The head swivels with ease and is low enough to go under furniture. The cords is long enough I can plug it in once and vacuum the entire living room and kitchen/hallway. The canister is super easy to release and empty. I couldn’t be happier. So impressed!! I’ll never go back!! Shark is the way to go and refurbished just makes sense all around. It looked new in every way except some scratches on the side of the foot. Otherwise looked brand new. So happy! Thank you to whoever refurbishes someone’s old shark so I could have one too! I’ll take great care of her! :-)

Another shark for a longstanding customer
Just picked it up today and was satisfied. Bought 2, for me and my dad. The product is refurb so I do notice some areas of wear, nothing to make noise about. I'm coming from a shark rocket and there are some features that I've already appreciated. - the lift and remove bin makes cleaning easier - no tangle was an obvious highlight - love the power and headlights for easy access - a bit loud, but it's a machine that makes noise as it works.. deal with it The one issue I had was the sponge filter was obviously old given it's brown color. However, I was prepared and bought replacements as well, so it was an easy fix and I still have spares. The main and exhaust filters were clean, so just the sponge filter to replace. Weight wasn't an issue or me. The swivel head is a little tight, but not bad. Reach is good, same as my rocket, and easy to get under beds and other furniture as the motor is in your hand. I cleaned my living room rug and was irked to see how much it picked up, and that was vacuumed about 3 days ago, so power is good. From having shark I would advise the following: 1. keep a paint brush close by the bin to clean out the dust collector best, hitting the can will damage it or the hinge, and some dust can be sticky to get rid of. 2. I don't wrap the cord on the wand, I make a loose coil and hang on the handle/motor. Easier to unwrap when ready, and to detach the pieces without having to go through unwrapping. 3. prop when standing, or lay on floor flat to minimize risk of falling and being damaged. So far I'm happy. As a shark customer for many years, I have faith in their products, and so far, I'm happy with this purchase.

No buyer’s remorse w/ this one!
I recently bought a refurbished excellent condition! And I couldn’t be more pleased! It’s like brand new. There’s no scratches. No buyers remorse with this one. It happens to be the best vacuum shark has ever made.. I have literally worn 2 out ,over the several years. It’s so easy to empty the canister. It gets under anywhere you can possibly need. It’s has wonderful power. I love having it’s felt bar for added cleaning of floors, too. I would constantly look to see if it was still on Amazon and I finally made the purchase! I wish Shark we quit going with cheap imitations now and go back to what’s really good! Thank you, AmaZon

Very light powerful stick vacuum.
I was looking for a light, functional and budget friendly stick vacuum to use for light cleaning because my Dyson ball vacuum is too heavy in spite of its superb cleaning! At first I tried some cheap ones and ended up returning them for their suction power was too weak. But most of powerful stick vacuums were too pricy for me. Then on Jan Costco was having a sale on Shark vacuums so I decided to try one of those after reading many positive reviews. While I was reading Amazon reviews of Shark vacs that are on sale at Costco, I came across this refurbished one. Looked like so many have bought this and were happy about their purchase and it was less than half price of Costco sale price for the exact same model. I’ve been using this for about a month now, I’m more than happy with this. It’s very light and easy to maneuver around floor, around table, under the bed or desk. One of the big reason I picked vacuum was the reviews said that it’s very light but powerful. Specially I liked its suction power, it’s almost as good as my Dyson ball vacuum. I hope this lasts longer. Switching wands or tools were easy and emptying dust was a breeze! It doesn’t need vacuum bags. It’s refurbished but it’s renewed by Amazon team to look and function like new with Amazon guarantee.

Vacuuming
This is a great vacuum! Easy to use, easy to put away. It’s also easy to disassemble when vacuuming smaller areas or items. I love that it has a cord so no need to worry about batteries. It maneuvers great! It picks up everything and it’s easy move around, very flexible. It’s not great for dog hair though. I have a rough collie and I vacuum daily. I did have to constantly remove the brush and clear out all the hairs because they would roll up into the brush. I had to use scissors or a knife to cut through. Other than that, great buy.

It broke
UPDATE April 2026: It broke. The button to turn it on doesn't work anymore not even a year into using it with fairly light use. 6 months in and I'm already shopping for a new vacuum cleaner. Don't get it November 2025: I've had this for a month and Ill come back and update as time goes on but I thought I had a good vacuum until this baby. I had a Bissell pet swivel pro. It was close to 300 bucks and it apparently sucked. Immediately the power difference was obvious. My goal was a lightweight vacuum I wouldn't mind lugging up and down stairs, a small vacuum that could fit under beds, couches, and in crevices, and all that corded so I didn't have to remember to charge my vacuum and somehow schedule toddler and cat litter messes so I can make sure it's charged (not happening). This does all that and more. It has a light I never knew I needed. It turns into a small handheld vacuum cleaner for countertops, tables, and beds and an extended handheld for cars, bed sides when your bed is against the wall, behind the toilet, idk just anything. Now for cons. It doesn't stand on its own which you don't realize you miss until you miss it. It can be too strong which is a pro and a con. You can't vacuum flimsy rugs basically but you can use the extended handheld and brush attachment and do a vacuum sweep. All of my flimsy rugs can also be washed too though so it doesn't really bother me. The pedal that separates the base from the handheld can get caught on things sometimes when you're cleaning under stuff. Not often but it can happen. The hooks built in can get caught on things too like cords which sucks when you have controller cords stretched across your living room btw. Suck up too big of paper or something and it can't go into the 2nd compartment. What I mean is the trash compartment has 2 sides and one of them seals the trash away so it can't spill back out which is needed for handheld but if you suck up say a small chip bag it won't make it to the 2nd compartment and it can prevent crumbs from making it there too. This isn't that much of a problem but it can mean crumbs spill out when you go to empty it. Those are my only complaints thus far. In conclusion, get it.

RENEWED! you mean BRAND NEW!
First off the vacuum arrived way ahead of schedule! Two vacuum came out of the box looking brand new everything was still in the original condition attachments came sealed in original condition ECT. Looks brand spanking new to me with zero wear on any part of the vacuum. Three the features this vacuum have a top-notch quality! LED screen showing the two moods #1 floor area rugs ECT 2# deep cleaning the carpet with crazy good suction as soon as i turned the vacuum on it felt like it drives forward on its own it literally glides across the floor! If you get close to the edge of a area rugs for example it pulls the rug up off the ground so be careful on #2 it's that good its fun to use in IMO us with kiddos count on a reliable vacuum to get the job done and get it done right! Super lightweight easy to empty dirt cup cord is a perfect length and there's no need to worry about a battery dying or having to be charged plug it in and get 100% power and my favorite feature is the brush rolls on the bottom are unique and you Don't have to pull hair constantly off it. I'm on medication that makes my hair fall out and a long haired dog and 3 teenage girls is makes this feature my favorite! I definitely recommend you won't regret it the quality for the price is unbeatable. If your unsure because of other mixed reviews let this review a honest review from a stay at home mom with nothing to gain from this review ($, discount, ECT) be the deciding factor to jump on the shark bandwagon!

Shatk UV580: Pleasantly surprised
Bought the Shark UV580 corded stick vacuum for my elderly parents. They had the Shark Navigator upright vacuum previously, but wanted a lighter one with same capability and power. So no cordless. The UV580 was a older model, cheaper than current models. It had dual powered rollers, LED lights, swivel, easy empty, crevice tool, and furniture brush. My only issues were the vacuum is not self-standing, and stacking the hand-unit on the base seem a little loose/unstable. Wish list: If the cord could be retractable somehow.

Me encanta
