1454 Porcelain Filler/Repair

I dropped a glass perfume bottle in my porcelain sink and it created a hole. I didn't know what to do. I looked it up and found this product. It was easy to use. The color wasn't exactly right but it plugged the hole in my sink which is what I cared about and it's still holding a year later.

It is okay. I have used porcifix in the past, which is a bit better in my opinion, as it cures faster, and can be easily sanded to be completely smooth and shiny. I also remember it being easier to apply to fill in deep pits. This product remained tacky for a long time, even when applied in small layers. It did not change much while curing, leaving brush marks and a rough texture. It also is not very hard when cured, so sanding around the edges caused it to crumble a little. Over time I will know how it wears.. my previous patch jobs with porcifix lasted years and remained shiny after being sanded with very fine paper. This off white color is not going to match coatings that are your typical brilliant white, but it looks OK. None of these give a perfect match anyway.

Fairly broke, young adult with minimal handiness skill here: this stuff saved me from having to buy my landlords a new sink. Not only did I crack the sink, but I actually put a hole in it. Tell me, can you think of one thing that would make a sink utterly useless? You got it. A hole at the bottom of the basin next to the drain. I applied three or four coats of this bad boy to build a nice barrier in the cracks and hole (I just made a bubble like cover over the hole- don't pop it, I know it's tempting) and now I can use my sink with no hesitations after months of going without. I didn't buy this right off. I made the mistake of thinking I can just use other water products in the area for my needs. And by doing so, the cracks spread tremendously. Just ask yourself: “do I really want to brush my teeth and wash my hands with the tub faucet again?” No, dude, you don't. Does my sink look beautiful? Nope! I did a pretty sloppy job. Can I use it normally and pretend the shoddy patch job doesn't exist? You bet. Buy this and save yourself the unease of staring at the gross junk that lines your tub while you get a glass of water in the middle of the night. You can thank me later.

Not as easy to apply as I thought it would be. I thought it would be like applying nail polish or even the old fashion liquid white-out for paper documents. I probably did not manage it well enough because the application site grew much larger than the actual gouges in the porcelain I was trying to fill. After it dried, I sanded the spots down to try and blend it in better. Well, blending, not so much. I am a newbie to this type of thing, so take that in consideration, you know, "operator error". It did fulfill its purpose.

Sheffield Bronze 1454 Porcelain Filler/Repair Yea.....Unfortunately, I am in the 10% who have the displeasure of giving this product a bad review. I researched porcelain repair kits, and looked at the reviews of them, and this seemed like a good product... I have the same problem as others...It will not cure. I am not an amateur DIY'r, and followed the directions VERY carefully. No water was in the shower for 3 weeks prior, as I was painting the room, replacing some plumbing, and the stall was cleaned well. Product was shaken EXTREMELY WELL multiple times....(just to be sure it was mixed) I applied the several coats of the filler 2-3 hours apart and checked it 12 hours later, and it was like putty....So I waited another 24 hours for it to harden into a "ceramic like" filler. I just tried again (72 hours from the last application) to sand it.... and it was like sanding plumbers putty or caulking. Even though I did not buy it directly from Sheffield Bronze, I just contacted the company. While the operator was cordial, the response was, that I must have applied it too heavy, and it must have trapped moisture. They suggested removing it all (which since it is still in a "putty-like state", shouldn't be hard), and reapplying the filler..... Re-Applying it in very even, very light coats,..... and said I could speak to someone else if it fails again.....uuugh FYI: This was being used on a shower stall at the radius in the bottom where the wall meets the floor. (small pitted areas) I have been coating,waiting,trying to sand, and messing with this for over a week now. I will try it again...But i am not feeling very "warm & fuzzy." Apparently it worked well for some, maybe you'll get lucky too....IDK. If can manage any better results, I will update my review.....But I am very doubtful at this point. ***22 hours Later-(3) SUPER light coats applied, 3 hours apart-It hasn't cured and my review is unchanged*** This product may work on a surface blemish or crack that has no depth...IDK The product has the consistency of paint ,so filling a spot that has any depth( .25-2mm ) will take you many hours, many coats, and quite possibly won't cure even after spending that much time.

Good stuff. $8 in 2017, $20 now in 2025. The guy I paid to replace my disposal hammered on the button of my sink and broke the porcelain. It was an old sink so I bought this stuff to patch the 1/2 square-inch chip. 8 years later and the patch still looks good and never wore down.

I used this to fill in chipped areas of my sink. I did two coats, waiting 24 hours between coats; I know I didn't have to wait that long, but I figured why not. My sink is white, and this is more of an almond color, but it didn't matter in the end because after this porcelain filler cured, I used the Sheffield porcelain paint, which is bright white, and that matched closely with my sink's color - not an exact match, but close enough. The smell of this porcelain filler can cause dizziness, so I recommend keeping a window open nearby. BTW - When applying the first coat of porcelain filler, I didn't wear gloves, and this got on my hands. It was easily removed by nail polish remover (I used the non-acetone kind, and it worked). I learned my lesson, and I wore vinyl gloves when applying the second coat.

My bathroom sink has started to go bad. I do not want to replace it as I am just renting and my residence is just taking a long time to replace it. In the meantime, I decided to attempt some temporary fix so I went for this porceain filler/repair. In short, it works. The color is unfortunately the same as my sink. I was not able to make is exactly seemless, even level wise but the porcelain was fixed so I can consider mysef satisfied.
