Q: Do you have to cut the bread first before making the sandwich?

I've done both: cut the bread first then cheese then ham and assembled, and also made the sandwich and cut. The bread tends to tear when you cut the already made sandwich, and it's a plastic cutter so it needs some pressure to get through the ham. Soft sandwiches like egg salad will just fall apart if you try to cut it after you've put it together. Also it helps to cut the bread and leave a nice impression if you microwave the bread for 5 seconds before cutting.
