SBSHD (#0034H) Sound Blanket For Scroll Compressors

This is the second Brinmar sound blanket I bought. This one is for my 3 1/2 ton unit and the first was for my 5 ton unit. The Sound blankets really makes a difference. My units were not noisy to begin with, but the sound blanket makes them really quite. I like quite. I had notices the more expensive Compressor/Condenser units come with a sound blanket. So, I started looking and ordered the Brinmar Sound Blanket for mine.

Not what I expect, didn’t seem to quite my unit much, or I could not tell a difference anyway. Would never spend that kind of money again on a maybe. Had to cut it to fit better and wasn’t really comfortable doing that as it exposed the quieting material to weather element.Update: 1/25/21 This item causes my compressor to run as hot as 215 degrees. With that, the temperature in the Freon caused the TXV valve to fail and stop cooling my home properly. When it was 100+ degrees outside, the house would not go below 78 degrees and the humidity was over 70%.

My AC unit sits on the backyard patio and was noisy enough to interrupt nearby conversations. Options to move the unit to a different location are slim and expensive. I can still hear the unit when it kicks on but there is a noticeable difference in the sound level. The unit can still be heard but people are no longer jarred by the noise when it starts and conversations are carried on normally. I didn't expect that this one thing would solve my sound issue but it helped a lot. I am happy with my purchase.A note on installation. I do not have a construction or maintenance background and wasn't sure what I was getting into. I was able to follow the directions and install the sound blanket. It took me less than 30 minutes. There are two pieces to this blanket and you will need to make some cuts to accommodate the pipes coming of the compressor and duct tape to secure it. The velcro straps are good enough to get it in place but not enough to secure it and seal the gaps. The directions do address this so you're not "on your own" in figuring out a solution.

This product did nothing to quiet the ac noise when sitting on the patio. I have to build a wall to reduce the noise and add a fountain.

Reduced the peak by 10dB and the average by 5dB. Really takes the edge off it. The neighbors are super impressed and very grateful - mission accomplished! Very easy to install though needed a second person to hold the fan out of the way on my model compressor.

Very disappointed with this product. Paid $60 and it did nothing to muffle the noise from the compressor. I can't return because they charge a re-stocking fee. plus a return fee and some other fee that came out to approximately $38.00. So I pretty much threw $60.00 out the window. Not Happy at all.

I had a very loud compressor, to the point it was embarrassing. The A/C Service guys said nothing could be done. I was looking for another solution and came across the Brinmar Blanket. I would say it definitely made a difference. I was hoping for it to me more silent but worth the price. If you have a loud compressor, this is a good solution.I would buy this product again.
