Critical to alkalinity control, this granular formula effectively raises alkalinity levels which might otherwise cause equipment corrosion. This product is a special compound used to increase the total alkalinity in spa water. Test for total alkalinity with a reliable test kit. The desired range for total alkalinity is 80-140 ppm. This product increases the effectiveness of the disinfectant, and helps prevent scale formation. It also prevents corrosion of metals, etching of spa surfaces, eliminates “bounce”, and maintains pH at the proper level. Easy to use; dissolves quickly. 1. Add 1 oz. (2 tbsp.) to spa water. 2. Allow water to circulate for 30 minutes. 3. Retest water and repeat Steps 1 and 2 until the desired level is reached. For best results, dissolve granular products first by adding to a small plastic pail filled with water. Review: Spa alkalinity - Works very well. Reasonable price. Product poorly packaged, arrived with chemical spilled. No Lid!
Product is fine, and I've trusted it for years for spa balance. This order went sideways due to improper handling or packaging. One of two containers had the lid off and on bottom of bag. Inner bag was damaged, as was the outer padded shipping bag. Powder leaking out everywhere! What a mess! Doubt the lid unscrewed itself in the package.

Beware: half filled bottles
As you can see in the picture, these bottles are not completely full. Neither has been opened yet. You get two bottles at a pretty low price, but you do get what you pay for.
