This item just arrived today. I had bought a different brand of laptop cooler from Amazon about a year and a half ago. Like this product, it had several hundred reviews and like this was also rated very high (about 4 1/2 stars overall). I tried to look for it but it appears that it's not available at Amazon anymore. I wasn't looking for because I wanted to buy another one. Quite the contrary I wanted to insert a product link and advise people NOT to buy it. It was much heavier and uncomfortable when sitting directly on my lap than this Cooler Master is. I've just plugged this in and right now am sitting in my recliner with the cooling pad in place. I'm truly amazed at how quiet the fan is and how comfortable it is. What's really great about it is that it's so thin that I can barely tell anything's added onto my laptop but it is working well. I know because I happen to be wearing shorts right now as I'm writing this review and it's literally cooling my legs! Another nice, and I think pretty common feature, is that while the cooler runs by plugging it into a USB port, you don't lose a port because the back of the USB plug that goes into the laptop is a USB slot and it works! I have a Canon CanoScan 4507B002 LiDE110 Color Image Scanner that I plugged into it and it immediately recognized and powered it. The scanner is powered solely by the computer's power through USB (i.e., it doesn't plug into a standard household AC power outlet) so the replacement port provided with this laptop cooler is a powered one. That wasn't the case with the previous laptop cooler I had. It did provide an additional USB port but it was not powered so it's use was limited. I have a Dell Inspiron N7010 (17R) laptop that I bought at Costco about two years ago maybe even three years ago, I don't remember for sure. I run Windows 7 Ultimate on it and absolutely love it because the monitor is outstanding High Definition but it runs HOT!!! Just a couple of weeks ago I bought a Crucial m4 512GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s with Data Transfer Kit CT512M4SSD2CCA for it to replace the original traditional hard drive that came with the computer and upgraded the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB by buying two Kingston Technology 4 GB (1x4 GB Module) 1333MHz DDR3 PC3-10600 204-Pin SODIMM Memory for Select Dell Notebooks KTD-L3B/4G and taking out the two 2 GB RAM cards that came with the PC. All I can tell you is WOW, this computer is now a screamer. It's as though I bought a brand new computer that's running 10 times faster than the old one but paid 1/3rd the price of what I would have paid for a comparable new one. Indeed, it would be difficult to buy a comparable new one now because most upper end new Windows laptops are coming packaged with Windows 8. Getting off track there sorry. I thought that replacing the traditional hard drive with the Solid State Drive might help the laptop not run so darn hot, but it didn't make a difference. I don't know, maybe the extra RAM offset it. But it still runs really hot. I am extremely pleased with this cooler. It's simply the most comfortable laptop cooler I could ever imagine and if it continues to work a year from now as well as it's working right now, then, I think, like the New SSD & new RAM i just bought, it will one of the best laptop accessories I've purchased. Fear not though friends: if things go south (i.e., if this stops working as it should) I will come back and revise my review accordingly. One other thing to note: keep a price check on these items. I ordered this laptop cooler on 3/24/2013 for $20.99 from a merchant called "LLYtech" and it was "Fulfilled by Amazon" so because I'm an Amazon Prime customer I got free two day shipping. At the time of this writing (3/27/13) it's selling from a merchant named "Galactics" for $21.01 and is not currently Fulfilled by Amazon though the merchant is offering free shipping but it won't be two day shipping. I also checked and Galactics is a highly rated merchant (4.8 stars over the past 12 months with 47,000+ ratings). I'm always more comfortable buying products that are "Fulfilled by Amazon" though because if there are any problems at all with the order I deal directly with Amazon and not the merchant to resolve them. Furthermore, the return policies for merchants that use Fulfilled by Amazon are identical to Amazon's so that provides peace of mind, especially for electronics. If this thing arrived Dead on Arrival a simple call, chat, or e-mail to Amazon an I'd have a return UPS label immediately and they automatically arrange for UPS to pick it up from you. In summary, unless you hear back from me to the contrary, you can buy this laptop cooler with confidence.

My laptop is the HP Envy-14 Beats Edition (model number 1260se)and it's been giving me problems with overheating for months now. I sent it back to HP for repairs, and they returned it without doing ANYTHING to fix the problem. (Thanks, HP...) Then my warranty was over almost immediately so I couldn't even yell at them to fix it. I had been using CoreTemp to measure the temperature of my CPU, and it usually hovered around the high 70s/low 80s Celsius when it was idle, and it passed 85 Celsius under half load. I don't even know what it would have done under full load, since it crashed somewhere around 85 every time. Even before it got this bad (i.e. bad enough that I couldn't bring it past half load) I would burn my fingers whenever I played a game. So I started looking at cooling pads. I wasn't 100% sure a cooling pad would do anything, since the air intakes are on the back of the laptop and the fan is on the right side. (I did later find hidden documentation on HP's website stating that there are vents on the bottom to make a cooling pad useful in just this kind of situation, though! I wish they had TOLD me that when I sent them the computer...) Looking at cooling pads, I began to get irritated for a couple of reasons. For one thing, every product seemed to be bragging about supporting 17" laptops. I have a 14-inch laptop with a 14.5-inch wide screen, and I didn't want something sticking out a lot around my computer! Also, almost every product seemed like it forces the user to have their computer on a slant. I will NEVER understand people's obsession with having keyboards on a slant. All slanting has done for me is give me carpal tunnel. When I use a keyboard for a desktop computer, I ALWAYS un-slant it, and I didn't want my laptop to be slanted without the possibility of un-slanting it! This cooling pad fixes everything. Despite the fact that it does claim to be able to support a 17-inch computer, it sticks out less than an inch on each side of my 14-inch computer. And it is NOT slanty, which I really really appreciate. And, most importantly, it fixes the overheating problem. At rest, my CPU is now around 55 degrees Celsius, and at half load I haven't seen it pass 72 Celsius. These numbers are MUCH more similar to what other owners of this same laptop have posted on forums. I don't know why mine was hotter to begin with, and I don't know why HP didn't fix it or at least give me advice, but at least now I can use my computer again without worrying about it crashing. I haven't tested it yet under full load (i.e. gaming or video editing) but I will try to remember to update this review once I do. :) UPDATE (8.19.12): This probably still doesn't REALLY count as full load, but I was playing Minecraft multiplayer last night and I decided to open up CoreTemp. I left it open for a few minutes while I played, and when I checked it again, the max temperatures were 76 and 78 Celsius. So that's pretty impressive, especially considering that those were my idle temperatures before. Hooray! :D UPDATE 2 (11.18.13): Over a year later, it's still working great. It got a little dusty at one point but I cleaned it out with a can of compressed air. My computer has not crashed once since I started using the cooling pad, and my CoreTemp values are still consistently much lower than they were without the cooling pad.

So I just purchased this on Amazon, and wow, did it ship quickly! Two days and it was here. Not bad for free standard shipping! Anyway, after extensive research on different laptop cooling pads, and with a limited budget, I decided to give the Cooler Master Notepal X-Slim a go. I mean, for $15, and considering that cheaper Chinese models on eBay were running about half the price anyway, I figured why not. PROS: - It works! My CPU has had a lot of issues maintaining its core temperature (during gaming it would spike up to 101 degrees C!!), and this has definitely helped. My computer runs on average 10-15 C cooler with the X-Slim, and even after running games at maximum load, the temp has yet to breach the 90s. The pad provides lots of ventilation for your computer. So good job, Cooler Master! - For the money, build quality is actually quite good! I was really fearful since this was a budget model, and after reading a lot of reviews here, this was one of my biggest concerns. The USB connector aside (see con section), the build quality was solid. I definitely feel comfortable picking it up and moving it. The mesh front is quite solid, and the pad's rubber feet do a great job of stabilizing the computer against a desk or flat surface. (Just don't slide the pad/your computer backwards or the rear feet will close on you!) CONS: - The USB connector was loose. I mean, it works fine, and the USB passthrough also functions well. It's just a bit wobbly and doesn't feel tight at all. Also, the length of the cord is a bit longer than what it should be - on the back of the pad, there are grooves and a winder plus a little storage thing for the USB connector so as to provide cable management and keep them out of the way. Only problem is, the cable was about an inch too long, so even if you wrap it according to the winders, etc, a bit of cable hangs out. Not too big of a problem, and you can play around with it and make it work. - Not exactly "silent" as is advertised on the box. I don't know if it was my pad in particular, but it was a touch louder than I had imagined. I watched some review videos where this was plugged in and you couldn't hear the fan, but it is definitely noticeable for me. Oh well, not a deal-killer. OTHER COMMENTS: - I would have liked to see some rubber pads or something on the front side, so as to prevent the computer from sliding off. However! The grading once the rear feet are flipped up is very slight, and it is unlikely that a computer would slide off anyway unless it was quite heavy. Plus, many laptops have rubber feet on the bottom anyway, which is enough to keep it from sliding off. The only thing I might tell you to be wary of is that if you have a large laptop (probably anything greater than a 15.6"), that you should be aware that your laptop will hang over the sides, so just check the placement of the rubber feet on the bottom of your computer to make sure that they will be in contact with the pad. So, overall, a great buy for $15! It is quite effective, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a solid entry-level cooling pad.

It does exactly what I bought it for. My 15" laptop overheats a lot, as I haven't yet changed the likely melted cooling pad around the processor. Add to that the fact that I often put the laptop on my lap in bed, therefore it's also on top of a blanket, and you can imagine how hot it gets. The cooling pad has so far worked very well; it's kept the laptop cool whether I place it on a desk or on my lap. It's fairly quiet - it's quieter than my laptop when overheating, at any rate. It's extremely light, so much so to the point where I'm not even sure it's 1.4 lbs as the manufacturer states. It feels as light as a feather. If you want a good pad, I would highly recommend this one. I have yet to test it while playing a video game, as that uses the most processing power, so if the pad can successfully keep it cool through that, it would be amazing. So far the most I've used it with is playing movies, and it's been perfect through that, so I have high expectations and hopes for the gaming test. I've also left it on for many many hours at a time and it was fine. I've seen other reviewers mention that it's cheaply built and parts around the USB have broken. I haven't had it very long at this point, just two weeks, so nothing has broken yet. TL;DR: Pros: - light - can be placed anywhere, on fabric or on a desk, and still works - successfully cools an extremely hot laptop - doesn't take up a USB spot as it replaces the one it uses with a port of its own - works fine with extended periods of time Cons: - You have to be careful how you hold it if you're transporting it while its running, as it is a little flimsy so if you hold it in the wrong area, it will push the top part of the plastic (where your laptop is sitting) down and into the fan, creating an absolutely horrible noise, and that could also break the fan.

I purchased this to help move my laptop above the surface I'm using it on so it has access to cooler air, as well as to provide extra cooling. I'm a big fan of its design, both from an aesthetic and utilitarian standpoint. The last thing I wanted was a gigantic cooling pad that featured 1 million LED's that can be seen from space, as well as 5 fans all running at Mach 3 and a giant footprint that took up more desk space than the laptop would on its own. This cooler fit what I wanted perfectly. It fits my Alienware M15 R3 perfectly, runs quietly, provides extra cooling that keeps the laptops fans itself from kicking into high gear as much as they used to do (granted, after undervolting the CPU I've never had issues with it running hot, but the internal fans would ramp up when editing video or gaming), and does not provide any distractions from a visual or auditory standpoint. It would fit right in in a professional environment as well as on your desk at home. It's also light and thin enough to throw in a laptop bag and carry with you without being a hindrance. The large single fan moves plenty of air which provides plenty of extra cooling without being excessively loud. The design as a whole will help cool laptop even with it not powered on due to the mesh surface and large vents on the rear of the unit, specifically high end gaming and professional laptops that have intake fans on the bottom of the computer. The USB cable has areas that allow it to be tucked away and stored. The cable also provides a female USB input which means you still have access to all of your USB ports even with the cooler plugged in. It also features feet that flip up in the rear providing more airflow and also allows the keyboard to rest at an angle, which I find more comfortable than having it in a flat position. Overall I think this is the best cooler on the market for usage cases similar to my own. If you're looking for a laptop cooler that you can carry with you wherever you go, can be used in a professional environment, provides good cooling without sounding like a jet engine, and doesn't take up an excessive amount of space, this is the cooler for you. Oh, did I mention that it's also one of the cheapest priced coolers available as well? Stop shopping around, this is the cooler you're looking for.

PROS: * Very effective at doing what it's supposed to do -- cool your laptop. the large fan blows a lot of air upward, and my Macbook goes from piping hot without the fan to only mildly warm with it. * Doesn't tilt your laptop upward. I personally find that many laptop stands tilt the laptop too much, forcing you to push the screen back as far as possible. This one keeps your laptop flat on your lap. It also has two little legs that flip out if you do want to tilt your laptop when using it on a table. CONS: * CORRECTION: As Mark Demon accurately pointed out, I was too quick to criticize this cooler for taking a USB slot and not giving one back -- the USB plug is a pass-through with male on one end and female on the other, so it does not use up a USB port. Mea culpa, I admit it. * Flimsy construction. After using this for only a couple weeks, the anchor keeping the cord attached to the case came loose. And if you put any pressure at all on the fan, it will scrape against the upper portion of the case and grind to a halt. The lightweight case construction I can live with, but the lose cord anchor is not excusable -- you shouldn't have to repair a product like this so quickly and after such light use. And since it's only $20, it doesn't make sense to send it back to have it fixed. So, big ding for this one. UPDATE: Since this is a cooling stand for a LAPtop, it is not unreasonable that it should work on someone's lap (as opposed to a table). I therefore stand by my criticism that the slightest pressure on the fan makes the fan grind against the case. I am using this on a Mac Air -- hardly a heavy device -- and if my legs are not spread apart the weight of the Mac alone -- no heavy hands on the keyboard -- makes the fan grind against the case. A few half inch plastic spacers between the interior front and back sides around the periphery of the fan would solve the problem without interfering with air flow, so I still ding this as a basic design flaw. * No rubber pads on the stand to keep the laptop from slipping. It's fine to have no rubber pads when the stand lies flat, but since the stand IS able to operate on an angle, there is nothing to keep your laptop from sliding forwards if you do so -- no rubber pads, no flip up obstructions, nothing. This is a really lazy design flaw. UPDATE: If you look at another Cooler Master unit -- the Cooler Master NotePal Ergostand Notebook Cooler R9-NBS-4UAK -- you can see how this problem has been effectively addressed with both built-in rubber pads for greater friction, plus removable bumpers at the front. * It would be nice to have a speed adjustment for the fan...I've used other Cooler Master laptop stands and they have them. This isn't so much something wrong as something that would be nice to have. Overall...it's a decent cooler. I give it 3 stars because it DOES do a very good job cooling, and I'd give it 4 stars if the cord anchor didn't come loose.

Reviewing: Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim Ultra-Slim Laptop Cooling Pad with 160mm Fan (R9-NBC-XSLI-GP)... I was quite satisfied with the airflow it provided for my laptop (a 17" CyberPowerPC with the entire rear half of the base as fan intakes). It certainly doesn't replace the laptop's built-in cooling and I think it's unrealistic to expect that, but it did push heat out better as a result of the pad. The X-Slim is decently large, though my laptop does slightly overhang it by about 1/8"-1/4" horizontally on each side. It's minor enough that I didn't even notice it until I was shopping around again and noticed lots of complaints by other people about different pads about overhang. This thing is stupidly sturdy. I just sat on mine to test it, shifted around, bounced, and this thing's mesh barely budged. The plastic on the underside isn't quite as sturdy, but hopefully your laptop doesn't weigh over 100 pounds. ONE OF THE FEW COOLING PADS WITHOUT LEDS. Yes that deserves all caps. This trend of adding blue LEDs to every pad is terrible. In actual laptop operation you get virtually no benefit as the laptop should be covering up the fans, but if you have it plugged in at night the vents just spill out blue light to help disrupt your sleep. CoolerMaster, keep making cooling pads without LEDs! Possible issues: First, the center of the pad is slightly raised and has nothing to grip your laptop. It's less of an issue as this pad's feet to tilt it put it at a fairly shallow angle, but be aware that If your laptop doesn't have rubberized feet, it will almost certainly slide off center a bit. The raise is minor enough that I can't imagine it will frequently be an issue, but if the rubberized feet on your laptop are very worn down it might be enough to keep them from contacting the pad to be able to grip. Second, and the more glaring design issue: the power cable is hard-wired into the device. There's some accommodations to it built into the the pad that I didn't notice (namely it has slots the USB plug can fit into and lock into place on the bottom), but not noticing/using them meant that at the airport going through TSA trying to put my laptop back into my bag with the cooling pad sheared the USB plug straight off. It's my own fault both for being in a rush and for not utilizing all of the cable management options it had, but a design with an external cable slot instead would have also negated the possibility. With that said, I'm satisfied enough with the quality and price that I'm considering whether to buy another to replace it, or buy the NotePal X3 (Which boo, has an LED, but at least you can turn it off separately from the fans).

Lo sto usando proprio ora: favoloso. fa bene il suo dovere: refrigerante per pc. Il pc rimane stabile, non scivola. E' organizzato benissimo! I piedini sono in gomma in più ha altri due piedi estraibili che permettere l'inclinazione. E' stabile e robusto. Le foto sono veritiere e dal vivo è anche meglio. Consegna perfetta imballo perfetto. Proprio un ottimo prodotto!

Conforme à la description. Il est en effet peu bruyant et convient parfaitement à un portable 17". Le gain en température est de quelques degrés, 4~5°C dans mon cas. Mais vu que j'atteignais le Tjmax de 100°C avec pour conséquence un ventilo de portable extrêmement bruyant et des shutdowns intempestifs, j'ai finalement pris le taureau par les cornes. Après démontage du portable pour nettoyer le ventilateur bien encrassé de poussière, le CPU ainsi que le processeur graphique, et enfin après changement de la pate thermique qui avait fini par sécher, j'ai atteint un gain de quasiment 40°C!!! Aujourd'hui avec le Cooler Master, la T° de mon CPU varie entre 48° et 62° pour une utilisation poussée. Maintenant, je ne donne que 4* pour 2 raisons: 1/ Le coté connecteur USB femelle est vraiment mal conçu. La partie métallique est coupante et on a vite fait de s'y accrocher. Il aurait mieux valu faire comme les marques concurrentes et injecter du plastique tout autour de ce connecteur USB femelle. Pour solutionner le problème, le mieux reste une gaine thermo-rétractable épaisse... 2/ Produit acheté sur Amazon.fr au prix de 30.36€TTC le 20/03/2015 alors qu'il est vendu à moins de 17,00$ aux USA, y compris sur Amazon.com... Aujourd'hui (18/04/2015) Amazon.fr le propose à 26,04€TTC, donc pas de quoi être très content de cette politique tarifaire pour un produit fabriqué en Chine...

Da mein Notebook länger an einem Ort an der Thunderbolt-dock verbringt wird irgendwann der Tisch darunter warm, was dann dazu führt, dass das ganze Gerät wärmer und lauter wird. Daher besorgte ich mir diesen Kühler. + Auch im ausgeschalteten Zustand bekommt das Notebook besser Luft und Wärme wird besser abgeführt. + Das Kabel ist flexibel (links oder rechts verwendbar) und kann an dafür vorgesehenen Aussparungen eingeklemmt werden. Super ordentlich. - Der Lüfter ist viel zu laut, da er sehr hoch dreht. Soviel Leistung brauche ich nicht - vermutlich hängt das stark von dem USB Port des Notebooks ab. Mehr Saft -> Höhere Drehzahl. Eine Poti zum einstellen an der Dockingstation wäre echt praktisch und hätte wahrscheinlich nicht viel mehr gekostet. Fazit: Sieht ordentlich aus, sauber verarbeitet, aber ist nicht einstellbar. Daher "OK'ish". Wer sein notebook nicht dauernd unter Last hat, wird wahrscheinlich wie ich damit auskommen den Lüfter auszulassen. Das notebook wird dadurch alleine schon kühler und hat kontakt mit einer besser wärmeableitenden Oberfläche. Wird das Notebook dann doch zu warm, kann man den Lüfter immer noch anschließen und einmal runterkühlen - denn das Lüfterrauschen ist immer noch angenehmer als das helle pfeifen des lüfters meines notebooks.
