the v1 works with the ADP 700 timeclock. will the v2 work as well?

It seems ADP700 has EW-7811Un v1 driver built-in. Most likely the v2 will not work because v1 and v2 are different hardware chipsets. They use different drivers. If the ADP700 does not update to have the v2 driver built-in, the v2 will not work.

Will this work with raspberry pi 3?

EW-7811Un v2 is not plug and play for Linux. Users need to manually compile and install driver. You may use the drivers from this website. http://downloads.fars-robotics.net/wifi-drivers/8188eu-drivers/

Why doesn't the quick installation guide mention linux? why doesn't the store page mention the kernel version limits?

We current provide Linux driver to support Kernel 2.6.18 ~ 4.14(Ubuntu,Fedora). Different Linux distribution would have different commands. If you use Ubuntu, you can just use 'make' under terminal to compile the driver. Then use 'sudo make install' to install the driver.

how to download without wifi?

Our EW-7811Un V2 supports plug and play in Windows 10. For other operating systems, our WiFi adapter products comes with a mini disk CD, driver is included in the CD. Or, you'll need another computer that have access to internet, download latest driver from our website www.edimax.com, then use a thumb driver or portable hard drive to move the driver file over. Hope these information helps.

Good little device that works as expected.

I use this with a 1u server running OpnSense. OpnSense is an open source router software. It has been very reliable. I have not tested the range and I am usually close to the system when I connect. I have not had any trouble. I did not have to install any drivers. I have tested it on my Linux (Debian 12) laptop and it works well.

NO LINUX SUPPORT DO NOT BUY

This is the V2 edition of the edimax wifi adaptor and it barely supports any Linux distros unless you plan to compile a driver yourself.
