This worked really, really well for me. I was able, with some silicone tape that I picked up at Walmart, to fasten an old garden hose to the end of it and lead it around the house and down the driveway. Considering we got three more inches of rain that night, and the barrel was already full, it meant HUNDREDS of gallons of water that did not go under my house, but around it. Having the exact circle saw drill bit meant I didn't have to go looking in my husband's and guess which one was right, and the gasket that came with it fit exactly in the hole. Super easy to do, to use, and a reasonable price to pay to get everything I needed except a little silicone tape and an old hose. Very pleased.

The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because it comes with only one hose seal. If you are planning to hook it up to your downspout, that’s a problem as you will need to get an extra hose seal from somewhere else. The included hole saw is a nice touch and worked well for drilling both the barrel and the downspout. The hose is not the most sturdy and not very long but I only needed a short one. I think it’s fair value fir the price.

I am not a handy person but I found it extremely easy to install. It works just as it is supposed to, an there is no leaking at all. It was a bit pricey but if it saves the basement from flooding then I guess I'd have to say it's worth it.

simple and cheap, cant go wrong with this. this kit is meant as an overflow kit not to another barrel but to drivert it away from the home. I wanted to use this to link 2 barrels together. as the picture shows it only has one (!!) rubber ring, but you can pick that up at the hw store.

gasket is a tight fit, no leaks even when the barrel is overflowing. use a bit of soap on the hose when you first insert into the gasket to make it easier.

The box included the hose, a silicone grommet, a 1/2" hole saw and a piece of paper with a QR code. I added clear silicone caulk to get a good seal. The QR code took me to a video showing how to place a rain barrel and install a valve at the bottom. It is not related to this product. Before drilling the hole, be sure the nut at the back of the hole saw is tight. Hold the shank with pliers and wrench down the nut. You can see it became loose for me. If it seems to take a long time to cut the hole, it may have become loose again. Just tighten and try again. Once the hole is cut, throw the hole saw away. It is cheap and an irritation to use. I put clear silicone caulk on the inside and outside of the rubber grommet for a better seal. Install the grommet in the hole from the outside. The big part of the grommet stays on the outside. Install the hose into the grommet. Use a finger to smooth the caulk around the grommet and hose. It not only seals it, but makes it pretty. It is not bad for the price, but it should have instructions.

this was a quick fix for adding an overflow to my rain barrel . the only problem was the hose does not connect easily to another hose of you need to go further than 5 feet.

I bought this as an overflow pipe on a second rain barrel after buying the linking kit by the same manufacturer. It's really easy to fit, will work on any size, curved sided barrel, and certainly does the job. I would have liked a longer hose, though, even though it's clearly advertised as a 5' hose, so I did know what I was buying. Like the linking kit, it's quite expensive, but it really does work and is a breeze to set up.
