Strong, well-designed, easy to assemble, do the job.
I liked the screws this came with for anchoring into the window return, the installation instructions, and the curved interface between the window return riser block and the inside end of the support bracket so that at any angle within reasonable range they would mate closely. These have been great for my window-sitter A/C units, even though they're narrow and obviously don't sit underneath the entire A/C unit like a shelf.

Solid product
The components here are solid and it goes together pretty simply. I was hoping to use it for a bay window. Needless to say it doesn't work too well for that type of installation without some modifications.

Sufficiently Flexible
GENERAL: Manufacturing a universal A/C support bracket is difficult at best so be prepared to modify or replace the nylon support pieces if you consider using them at all. I used the metal shelf and hardware without mods so the package provides a good value in that you have what you need to get started. But bottom line, (if your installation is similar to mine) you should be fairly proficient with hand tools if your A/C installation is a DIY. THE INSTALLATION: The metal (and sufficiently strong) bracket adapted readily to installing a 6K BTU A/C in a Florida room addition on a 12' wide Park Model. The Frigidaire A/C was designed to fit in a window that slides up and down and was furnished with a support bracket that assumes it will sit on a sill of some type. Since I had no sill this support bracket was discarded. NOTE: This discarded bracket inserted up into the CENTER OF THE A/C to prevent its moving, so see below for the impact of discarding it. USING THE LIGHT DUTY SUPPORT BRACKET: A band saw was used to modify the height of the center support nylon so that the top of the installed support bracket sat flush with the bottom window opening. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for the bracket also recommended moving the bracket to the heavy side of the A/C; this was done. The two furnished and hardened support screws were more than sufficient to mount the bracket thru the modified nylon into the aluminum window frame. This completed the off-center support for the A/C. Two other plastic support pieces were modified by band saw and mounted (using two of my screws) at the two front corners of the A/C to obtain the same height as the off-center support and prevent the A/C moving left to right. Front to back, the hardware did a good job permitting the slight drop in the back of the A/C. In my installation the very bottom rubber pad rests against the slightly flexible aluminum side wall of the outside Florida room but after several days use of the A/C, the completed 3 hour installation works well. Would do it all again.

NYC requirement - installs a bit different that the instructions say
I purchased this after moving to NYC in what turned out to be a blazing hot summer. I had no previous knowledge of these devices, but not wanting to disregard local laws (and more importantly, get in trouble with our building super) I went ahead and ordered one to keep in full compliance. My first, second, and third attempts to install this were a dud. Pre-war Manhattan apartments, as it turns out, have very thick walls and deep window sill preventing any sort of installation that looks like what is pictured in the instructions. My first two attempts left the unit leaning into our apartment which I knew would mean the condensation would be joining us inside as well. The third attempt achieved the right slope, but left the A/C unit about 1.5 inches above the lip of the window frame (and leaving me with a lot of left open space to block. Finally, I called a local handy man, and he shifted it further down the sill, away from the lip of the window sill that the instructions tell you it should be touching, which allowed the rubber foot on the the brackets support "leg" sit correctly, and the bracket to have the proper slope. $60 later (and after a laugh at my inability to solve the installation puzzle), I now have a properly installed A/C unit that is fully supported, tilts in the right direction, and sits on the sill directly. So, for those living in NYC that need a bracket - this one DOES work, but not as described in the instruction manual. Summary - does its job (+5 stars) but instructions were completely unhelpful (-2 stars)

Easy install, protects window frame and sill from damage
Used it to mount an LG8016ER 8000 BTU window air conditioner in a side-close window with no discernible external sill. The fasteners are very robust and the bracket allows the AC unit to sit above the bottom window frame and put no pressure on it. The bracket is narrow and your AC needs to have either side or top support to keep it stable, but that's why they call it light duty.

good asset
I have used one like this in the past. It makes getting the AC in correctly easy. I have never liked trusting the window to hold the unit correctly. On the smaller units, because they weigh less, it is probably safe. On the heavier ones, I would not trust the windows to hold them in place. It is not quite so easy to put them in as they ads usually say. There are three screws that are quite long. A drill to pre drill the holes would be most helpful. You must also be able to lift the unit to see if the motors weight is to one side of the other. Also, the widow should have a sill that projects out from the outside wall 3-4 inches.

While there was initial skepticism on whether this will hold the weight of my AC, it did a fantastic job. Installation was easy - just need a drill machine and screwdriver.

Works well enough, needs to be able to be extended, not quite long enough.
