Q: Is this hat "packable"?

No it is steam formed palm fiber. not the old type of Panama, but a very good hat.

Q: How is the hat packaged for shipping?

Money arrived in a heavy corrugated box with an insert to maintain the shape and support the hat by the brim. It is a fantastic hat... one of my favorites.

Q: I normally wear a 7-5/8 size hat. Would that be a large?

I think that would be an XL. I believe that large is 7 1/4 to 7 3/8.

Q: Is this hat 100% wool? What does the Prof stand for? and how does it hold up in the snow and rain?

Yes it's 100% wool. Great in rain and snow.
