Good kava. The loloma variety is nice and balanced, not too relaxing and a little uplifting. Will buy again.

I've been drinking kava for about 35 yrs now and I absolutely have to leave a review on this kava. I'm pretty familiar with the differences in good quality kava and not so good. This kava is some of the best I've ever had. You can taste the cleanliness when you drink it which tells me great care has been given to these roots from harvest to cup. Believe it or not there is a distinct taste between kava and dirt. This kava is clean, potent and a great value compared to many other sub-par roots sold by the many many kava distributors. Sometimes it's hit or miss and this kava never misses. There are also a variety of other kava that I use from this company. Every single one of them are top notch and never had a complaint. If you're looking for a smooth and potent kava then this is the one for you. This is not the strongest they offer but it always gets the job done and sometimes you sacrifice the potency for taste which I dont mind at all. If you need something stronger then they have you covered. I have been using this companys kava for a few years now and I hope they continue to stay around so I never have to go without. I’ve been a serious alcoholic for the last decade, and in the last two weeks I consistently committed to using this stuff instead of giving into the cravings. You don’t feel it the first few days, I did a double dose first glass and a dose and a half the second, after the third to fourth night I felt it. The night after that I felt really similar to any anxiolytic rx, but not sloppy and edgy. Now I look forward to it and experience a buzz each time. So far it’s genuinely helping me no longer desire alcohol. I’m on 3 weeks sober! Ps almond breeze coconut milk with Oregon chai spiced chai concentrate made this super tasty.

It has the desired effect but took a little more than expected.

This review is strictly between the two strains sold by FVK mentioned in the title...The "Vanuatu" got many thumbs up in my searches on various posts and threads...The "Loloma Waka" didn't, but I bought a bag out of curiosity...Before I compare, I'll go over a preparation method just in case something in there helps you...PREPARATIONFirst I'll mention three products that are not essential, but come in very handy during preparation...1- AWS scale100 gram capacityAccurate to a hundredth of a gramIt's cheap, pocket sized, and reliable(See picture for correct model)RECOMMENDED !!!2- Kavafied strainer bagThis bag does not stretch which makes it better than using a T-shirt...It's also reusable, killing off the need for buying cheesecloth or throw away strainer bags...And the mesh is extremely fine/tight and quite strong...It's also quite large...One of these bags and you're all set !!! (See picture for details)RECOMMENDED !!!3- AluballEverywhere I went doing research on kava they kept mentioning it in posts and threads, but never explained what it was...It's a simple enough device...It's a hollow plastic ball that has holes in it that are covered on the inside by fine steel mesh...You unsrew it, fill it with about ½ an ounce of kava powder, screw it back together..Then put it in a cup or so of water inside of a container that you can shake it all with...I use an old Contigo coffee container...Shaking this hard for one to two minutes disrupts the integrity of the kava powder and forces out the kavalactones into the water...The result is that you can get the good stuff from an ounce of kava in two or three minutes without kneading !!! This thing actually works, which I guess is the reason you find it mentioned in many threads across the internet...(See picture)RECOMMENDED !!!So to prepare my drink, I weigh out between 29 and 30 grams...This will give you 15 doses per pound...Next I put half of this dose in an aluball and shake it hard for two minutes...I dump the contents of the ball into a strainer bag inside a large plastic bowl...I then shake and dump the other half of the dose...Ok, done with the aluball...Now I knead the kava inside the strainer bag for ten minutes...Squeeze the kava dry and pour it into a cup...Done !!!COMPARISON"Loloma Waka"I suppose nobody across the internet recommended this strain for one simple reason...It's extremely/sadly/profoundly WEAK stuff...One red flag is it's dull aroma, another red flag is the lack of numbing mouth and throat after consumption...It takes a long time to kick in, and once it HAS kicked in, there isn't much to report...A medium strength buzz is all you get, and it lasts roughly one hour tops...Disappointing and a complete waste of money !!!Obviously, NOT RECOMMENDED"Vanuatu"This is the strain that brought me to Amazon to check out...Numerous separate threads highly recommended this so I thought I'd give it a try...Wow, we've got a winner !!! Strong smelling stuff that severely numbs your lips, throat, and mouth after drinking...This was a great sign...It starts kicking in almost immediately, and KEEPS kicking in for quite a while...It sedates, and sedates, and sedates some more...It also takes away some of your sense of balance...Finally it gives you a strange dizzy sensation...Strange in that when you move your head, it takes your brain a moment to catch up...Overall this stuff is worth every penny !!!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!Thanks, and good luck !!!

All their varieties are very high-quality. It’s nice not to have to overpay. My new go to Kava company.

I'm extremely disappointed. I've been buying this product for a long time but the product that arrived today is not the same - completely different taste and color and it made me sick. I threw up. I'll be reaching out to Customer Support. This is unacceptable and it shouldn't be making me sick....

It's not exactly my preference. Yeah it's strong but I really don't dig the effects so much and normally a standard kava grind will yield a second wash, this one gets real muddy and clay like before finally releasing the kavalactones after a real long shake with aluball. Any other kava I use brews almost immediately so I'm not sure what the deal is with that but it's not the worst
