Pastel pencil review
Love these pastels. They blend amazingly. At first I tried them without the rough pastel paper and they didn’t work nearly as well. I used a base of pan pastel to save pencil usage. Nice sharpener. Pencil doesn’t break when sharpening. I am new to this medium and working to improve. I feel like they are beginner friendly. Pencils feel good in the hand. Color builds really well in layers. Highly recommend these color pencils. Would spray with fixative after complete or between layers is recommend to avoid smearing.

Fantastic
The best pencils ever. They blend like a dream. Smooth rich color. The trays in the tin are flimsy but that's what an art box is for. They are my new favorite for sure. They didn't have much padding but none were broken as far as I can tell. The eraser dose a great job. These are just a fantastic set of art pencils.

5 star product
Let me start by saying I'm no artist, I only color as a hobby in coloring books. So take my perspective for what it is - that of a hobbyist who loves trying out new techniques and learning about art. I watched a whole bunch of reviews comparing different pastel pencil brands. Most reviewers agreed that Stabilo made some of the best pastel pencils and when the price dropped to an unbelievable $46, I jumped on it. As you can see, I've already colored many pages with these pencils and love them to bits. I'm able to complete pages within a few hours in one sitting, as opposed to many hours spread over a week or so I take with colored pencils. These pencils blend, smudge and smear so well it's no joke! The colors are rich, vibrant and become even more brilliant when you set it with water. I don't like using fixative but these pencils don't produce much dust (way less than pastel sticks!) so I don't need to thankfully. For the price, they're hands down the best pastel pencils you can buy. I don't know how soft or hard these are compared to other brands but I do know they blend very easily even on smooth coloring book paper. I imagine they'll work even better on textured pastel mat. 60 colors are more than enough for any project you might have since you can mix whatever shade you want on a palette or scrap paper or even blend it directly on the page. Well worth it, whether you're an artist or colorist like I am.

THE BEST Chalk Pastel Pencils on the market!
Carbothellos are my absolute favorite chalk pastel pencils by far! So many vibrant colors and they are so smooth and buttery to apply to paper and to blend. They are a pain to sharpen and have to be sharpened quite often, however, it is definitely worth the hassle. My request to this company is to expand the range of colors!!! I know so many people like me who would immediately buy a 2nd set if additional colors were offered! Pretty please, Stabilo!!!!!!!

Yo! Stabilo! Why the awful second tray?
I love these pastel pencils. And I’ve enjoyed Stabili tins with their markers. But the bottom try in this set of 60 is SO awful, that it is worth a whole star. The top tray has 24 of the pencils and there is a bit of space between each so that - gasp! novel idea here! - you can actually pick the pencil up. The bottom tray has the other 36 pencils CRAMMED together. And when I say “crammed,” I mean they are squished in there so tightly that not only can you NOT actually select one pencil from the tray, but the effort to do so willdislodge half a dozen pencils from their positions, This is just a willfully cheap move on the part of Stabilo. A deeper tin could have had three useable trays, or a longer tin could have done the job. Stabilo obviously wanted to get all 60 pencils into an existing size tray and it’s just really annoying for anyone wanting to use the pencils from the original trays. Mine arrived, in fact, with the entire bottom tray completely scrambled...like a pastel pencil logjam that I had to sort through. Sorry to go on about this. The pencils are fantastic, but to get a great product in a half-assed container really does take some of the joy out of using them.

Excellent, pretty good price at $60, also like Derwents and found excellent paper, read the review!!! Bought sticks to try also.
Excellent, pretty good price at $60, also like Derwents and found excellent paper, read the review!!! If things change I will update this review. I have not tried Prismacolor but that is because I feel they are overpriced, and I have read that these are just as good and lightfast, true to colour as any $700 set. So, we will see. Also trying thte stick, but bought a small sampler set to see if I even like to draw that way. I am into watercolour and pencils of graphite, colour, carbon, pastel and watercolour pencils. Have a small charcoal set, but such a mess, I get the darks from carbon but hard to find and they are really expensive unless on sale. Also try this paper, you do not need to buy expensive sanded art paper, GO TO HOME CDEPOT!!!! Spend pennies on the dollar and this pack will give you a good range for the finest grit, I paid a rediculous amount for one sheet of 800 grit sand paper at an art store. I am sure you can get larger sheets. 9 x 11 Inch, 800 to 3000 Grit Sandpaper Assortment, Dry/ Wet, 14 Pieces, for Automotive Sanding, Wood Furniture Finishing, Wood Turning Finishing Also for $7 cannot beat this sample set bu very small, like 1" sticks and thin. Have not worked with pastel stick long enough to talk about quality, but a great small set to try out and see if you like the looseness of that type of art Mungyo Soft Pastel 64 Color Set Square Chalk

An excellent product for the pastel artist
I bought the Stabilo set on the recommendation of the teacher of a pastel drawing class which I took recently at the local arts center, and I have been very pleased with my purchase. The pencils allow the artist to supply details to his/her pastel painting by using the soft pastel pencils instead of the less manageable pastel chalks. When uing the pencils in connection with the chalks, the pigmenrts are easily blendable so that chalks and pencils can be used together ona single painting. The pencils come packaged in 2 plastic trays in which each individual pencil has its own slot, so the pencils are less likely to be damaged in moving. The 2 trays come in a "tin" metal case which opens like a clamshell allowing 1 tray to pe placed in each half so that all of the pencils are readily available for use. New users who are not familiar with "soft" pastels may be surprised by how quickly the pigment is used which necessitates the frequent sharpening of the pencils; however, this usage is characteristic of soft patel pigments whether chalks or pencils. I have used my pencils extensively, and have no complaints about the product. It would be a super gift for any artist who uses or would like to learn how to use soft pastels. The carrying case is not only practical but is visually attractive as well. In my oinion, Stabilo has earned its 5 stars on this one.

Yes, I love Carb-Othello Pastel Pencils.
This is my favorite set of colored pencils. I truly enjoy working with Charcoal because it blends so well. I have several sets of colored pencils and while each set have their own pluses and minuses, I just enjoy these the most. (Every Artist has their own favorite medium. To be fair I am a newer artist.) This is also my favorite because some of the other sets I have do not have the selection of colors that this one has. For example some of the other sets I have duplicate the same color over and over with just the change of the color name. The colors although named differently are just too similar. THAT IS NOT THE CASE WITH THE 60 SET OF CARB-OTHELLO. YOU REALLY GET A GREAT SELECTION OF COLORS AND THE CHACO IS SO DARN WORKABLE. The one warning I would give about this product is that since charcoal is so soft you must be careful when using a pencil sharpener. If you are not keeping an eye on the sharpener, your pencil will be ground to dust in a heartbeat. The drawing attached The original was found in a movie I watched about Beautiful Black Women's hair. The other is the drawing I did from the original. I do not know who the original author is but I did not do them justice. My drawing is, of course, the one with the tan background.

Shop around for price, NEVER DROP THEM, and you cannot beat the colours and quality
Bought these years ago, they are amazing- drawing in a heavy realist, Dutch Golden Age style comes easily if you choose good pastel paper. They are not suitable for sanded papers as they wear down quickly due to the nature of pencil lead size, save that paper for full chalks, but a honeycomb texture or similar works well, they layer like a dream! Perfect for portraits, etc. These and Derwent are amazing!

Colori intensi e sfumature perfette: matite davvero professionali
Consigliatissime.

Amazing
First time using soft pastels and these are so worth it! Really good for the price. Didn’t use the “right” paper for it but still turned out pretty good. Would probably recommend to use a pastel mat for more smooth layering. Disclaimer: Used in combination with soft pastel chalk as a base layer! - 2nd pic
