Temporal Bone: An Imaging Atlas Paperback – 30 April 2017

A collection of thin section anatomy of the temporal bone as depicted on thin section microtomes ,CT and MRI supplemented by color diagrams. Multiple scan plans utilized. Excellent detail. Anatomy extremely well labeled. This is not the typical one chapter superficial anatomy of the temporal bone that most radiologists study. For instance as one example each ossicle is magnified and depicted in not just cross section but as magnified structures in multiple projections and all well labeled. The laborinthine structures are also depicted as color coded almost 3D like pictures of structures in multiple plans? This is a very detailed atlas that should be on the shelf of every oto neuroradiologist,neuroradiologist,diagnostic radiologist,anatomist,otologist or others interested in anatomy of the temporal bone. As an added feature a DVD of a fibreotoscopic journey through the temporal bone is included providing surgical landmarks and adding to the educational experience. I read and reread this book a few times until it was committed to memory and I still revisit it. Anatomy does not go out of style.

意外に薄い本です。その割に高価。絵はきれいです。ただし、ちょっと思っていた本とは違いました。どちらかというと、内部構造の詳細です。側頭骨の難しさは、立体的な配置にあると思っています。よほどわかってないと、手術後の変形の評価ができません。側頭骨に関する本は、他には　Swartz の　”Imaging of the temporal bone"　くらいしかありません。この2冊で勉強するしかないですね。Amirもありますが、疾患が大部分なので、解剖の勉強にはあまり役立ちません。なお、付属のCDROMはWindows専用です。Macはダメみたいなので要注意。
