The first part of Arabic Language Lessons for Non-Arabic Speakers is a book to teach the Arabic language, and it is concerned with grammar, morphology, vocabulary, and style. Teachers should keep these ideas in mind while explaining and should use the following steps: Introduce the lesson without referencing the book. Read the lesson, drawing students’ attention to the repetition of previous material, explaining new material, and asking students questions to ensure that they understood it. Put students into groups. Give students time to complete all of the oral exercises, and let them complete the same exercises in written format outside of class. Review: I recommend that textbook - The textbook looks instrumental in introducing an English-speaking learner to the Classical Arabic. By starting with basic words and simplest sentences, it gradually leads the student to more advanced ideas. The learner is supposed to be familiar with the Arabic script prior to beginning the course, but that's no issue for me. For the course, the fact of being created at the prestigious Madinah Islamic University speaks for itself. I am planning to buy the remaining two volumes soon. Review: Excellent Introduction to Arabic for English Speakers - I love this book. The "Arabic Course for English Speaking Students - Madinah Islamic University Level 1" is an outstanding resource for anyone looking to start learning Arabic. This book (I love it) is well-structured and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of English-speaking students. Clarity and Accessibility: The lessons are presented clearly, with detailed explanations in English. This makes it easy to understand the fundamentals of Arabic grammar and vocabulary, even for complete beginners. Structured Learning: The book follows a logical progression, building on each concept gradually. This structured approach helps reinforce learning and ensures that students can follow along without feeling overwhelmed. Comprehensive Content: Covering a range of topics from basic greetings and introductions to more complex sentence structures, the book provides a thorough foundation in Arabic. The exercises and practice drills are particularly useful for reinforcing what has been learned. Overall: The "Arabic Course for English Speaking Students - Madinah Islamic University Level 1" is a top-notch resource for beginners. It’s well-organized, comprehensive, and user-friendly, making it an excellent choice for anyone serious about learning Arabic. Of course it's always better to practice with native Arabic speakers but in case you don't have access to one or just want to learn from the book, it's great.

Very helpful
Helps teach Arabic in a simple and straightforward way but needs a teacher. Markaz Umar uploads videos to YouTube that specifically teaches this book.

Wish I had this sooner
I wish I had known about this book set and the free online course in my first semester of Modern Standard Arabic. So much easier to understand the concepts because it is written for English-speaking students. You will love it because it has the answers and English rationale in the back. The price is so inexpensive and worth so much. You can download the lessons for free, but I opted to spend a little money since the answers and rationale are right in the back and written in English. TERRIFIC FOR NEW STUDENTS LIKE ME. Plus the website that accompanies the lessons has all the pronunciations.

ARABIC COURSE FOR ENGLISH SPEAKERS
I like this language book. This book used with the set of 9 DVDs for Book ! is very useful. I have started and stopped Arabic several times. I believe I will stay with this program as I like the method of instruction that Dr. V. Abdur Rahim uses. Arabic is not easy, but you will gain many rewards from learning it.

The book needs a 21st C. update.
They keep re-publishing this edition, but it's out of date. But do they care, or is it MORE important to stay "true" to the original? Why? Examples: "Yugoslavia" isn't a country anymore. Would it kill your publishers to replace the horrible graphics w something from the 21st Century? There are diacritical mistakes. How long have these gone uncorrected? Many word's useful for modern Arabic, but not found in the Qur'an. How is that helpful? And lastly, 2/3 of this book for English speakers is in pure Arabic. Only the back 1/3 has any English, and those have Arabic headings! And too much of the Arabic script is so small, my magnifying glass can barely make it out. I had to find a youtube channel to walk me through this, and the quality of those channels vary a lot. It's time you showed your readers some respect, and go through this book w a competent English speaker, pref a native English speaker, with a fine-tooth comb, and get the nits out. Meanwhile, I shall struggle along, God-willing. Not sure if I'll end up buying the next 2 books or not. See how this pans out first.

Accept no substitute
THE book to start learning Arabic. If you use all three books of this series, you would have a level that exceeds intermediate. If you are a total beginner, use the Gateway to Arabic handwriting book, then start with this one. You get a very good grounding in the simplest of Arabic grammar, without all the fluff topics like buying plane tickets or what's for dinner tonight. This means that you have an excellent base from which to start reading Arabic and actually understanding it, rather than having lots of superfluous vocabulary. It is advisable to have a teacher, and that does not have to be an Arab! I learnt from native English speakers who had studied this book as beginners themselves."Madinah Book 1", as it is so widely informally known, gives you the roots of your Arabic tree - others only give you the branches.
