Canโt wait to frame it
Love this scratch of got map. Be careful when getting it out of the tube it comes it, itโs hard to get out and easy to mark. Scratching the states is a little bit difficult because of the lines but if you take your time youโll get it. I used the edge of a credit card and that seemed to work the best.

Must enjoy detail-oriented arts and crafts projects
You definitely need to enjoy detail-oriented arts and crafts to not lose your mind doing this. As far as I got took me about 4 hours. I don't know what happened to the other people saying it's hard to scratch. Mine definitely wasn't. But it is tedious and I enjoy this kind of detailed work. After scratching away, you can still see the shadows of the mountain ranges against the states...maybe some people think that's just the gold not scratching away? Instead of using the guitar pick, I used a plastic cuticle pusher (the side that you clean under your nails with) and the eraser. The cuticle pusher worked more precisely over the guitar pick and the eraser cleaned up the area to make it more presentable. Removing the gold around the edges of the map was a little hard to clean up, and you can still tell it's there. To combat this a little bit I just tried to scratch with "the grain" of the gold line, not against. Same when using the eraser. This at least keeps the messy-look more contained. Fixing how folded it was due to the packaging was a lot easier than I expected. I simply used heavy things to hold the 4 corners down while I worked on it (about 24 hours), and then folded it the opposite direction and stuck it back in the packaging tube for about 2 minutes. When I took it back out, it was completely flat! All in all, it's a nice map, a fun arts and crafts project, and I really like it.

Easy trick to neatly scratching it!
I got this map back in January and it was hard to scratch so I worked on it here and there and made little progress and wasn't super happy with it. The paper was getting scratch marks in the spots where I worked. For the price and as a display item I wasn't super happy about it. But then I discovered you can put hand sanitizer on the areas you want to scratch off and let it sit a minute, then scrub it off with a paper towel. It gives much neater results than just scratching.

Goes bad after a few years
Bought this in 2020 to document our travels. We scratched off a handful of states the first year or two and seemed to work well, but hadnโt added to it for a few years. We took it out today to add more states from the last few years and the scratch off just sort of smears around, impossible to get a clean scratch off. So the scratch off surface goes bad after a few years, think we will have to throw this out now, just a bunch of smudges and even ripped the map itself in a few spots trying to get the scratch off off. And yes, we were using the correct tool provided with the map. Cool idea, poor quality.

Clean Format and Nicely Detailed
Had to flatten the map out over a week or so to get it to lay somewhat flat but still curls a little on the sides. Putting it in a frame should solve the issue no problem. Came exactly as expected and sports some nice details and features (such as notable locations like the Biltmore Estate in NC) that many other maps lack. The flags are a nice touch as well. The color variations between the states is an absolute must and makes reading the map significantly easier. It also adds flair to the image offering a bold contrast to the black background. It scratches off as neatly as you are willing to put time into it. If you rush there may be a good number of mild gold streaks left over (you can spot a few in the image) but even at a short distance these are barely noticeable if at all. Overall great quality and would recommend to any travel enthusiast.

A great way to track your travels, look back on them fondly, and a good conversation piece.
My wife and I got this to document the places we have traveled and will travel in the US. It looks great in a nice black wooden frame. I'm not a fan of the color gold, but the gold on this makes it look "classy" I would say, like it's more valuable than just a poster. The color is easy to scratch off, and the included stickers showing where you were born and where you want to go are a nice touch. This is hanging in our hallway now, and it looks like we had it professionally made and personalized just for us. It's a good conversation piece when you have visitors. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who has traveled or who has the goal of visiting all of the United States. Five stars.

So good I bought 3
I bought this for my niece (and her family), my son and I, and for our best friends. Everyone seems to love it and it looks great! It is easy to use and has the bonus feature of listing all the states and flags at the bottom of the map that you can scratch off. If you only want to trace the roads and routes you've used to visit different places you can do that or if you want to scratch off the entire state you've visited you can also do that. My 8 year old was able to scratch off parts with ease and it looks great! It also includes a handy pouch to keep the scratching tool (guitar pick), magnifying glass, stickers, coupons and the travel bag ID tag. Now we have a way to decide on our next vacation(s)! I highly recommend!
