Vanilla - 1.06 lbs

Over the decades, this is still my all time favorite protein powder mix. It has a good blend for those with cortisol/sugar issues and it tastes good to me--I like things a tad sweet.

I have been using Vanilla Spiru-tein since 1997. I have tried other brands here and there, if I wasn’t able to get this one or just to try something new, and nothing has even come close to the flavor, texture, or mixability. I have no dietary restrictions that limit my choices, but I do have preferences that preclude fake sweeteners. My husband and I have been having mango smoothies every weekday for the past 6 years, using strictly vanilla Spiru-tein and we both continue to look forward to it. On the rare occasions that we have something like a breakfast sandwich, we both marvel at how much sooner we get hungry as compared to the days we have our smoothies (whole milk yogurt, spinach, banana, mango, powder). Pro-tip, for a less fluffy smoothie, blend all ingredients on high, turn down the speed, add your powder, and blend just enough to mix it in. Don’t aerate your smoothie unless that’s your thing! PS I volunteer as tribute if Nature’s Plus or Consumer Reports wants to run any blood tests ;)

UPDATED REVIEW (as of 4.12.26) Ok, everything I said below in the original review is true, BUUUUT I figured out how to make this work! I cannot use rice milk or any store bought nut milks, as they all contain oils and thickeners (which is pretty gross, honestly). I'd make my own but that's cost prohibitive these days. I just made a fantastic drink that's not a thick smoothie (and I prefer a thinner drink to a thick shake, really) but it's a fruity, tangy, delicious and very refreshing drink I will add to my morning. Into my Vitamix I pour 2/3 cranberry juice (or cranberry mixed juice, with pomegranate, etc) and a healthy splash of pineapple juice, some water, about 2/3 of a scoop of Spirutein and a bit of Vega (protein and greens vanilla, which I love) and blended for about 5 seconds. It is DELICIOUS!! I'll try adding frozen pineapple next time and use a bit more Spirutein, as without the nut and rice milk adding too much gummy texture I don't have to worry. This means I can make my modified Robek's smoothie, which I used to sip during and after my workouts and found it greatly reduced my recovery time and boosted my endurance; a diluted fruit juice base (apple, cranberry, pineapple, etc) with baby spinach, kale, frozen pineapple, frozen wild blueberries and a scoop of protein powder. It's not too thick or heavy, tastes great, digests easily and really gives me energy without a crash. So, like most things in life, I just need to evolve the way I enjoy this and appreciate the new recipe. I hope this helps someone else who also doesn't love a thick, gummy smoothie trying to mimic the texture of a thick dairy shake with thickeners. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've enjoyed Spirutein since the '90s, but I have to say that in recent years they have changed this formula because now it thickens into a pudding or sludge with just about anything. I get needing SOME thickeners, to emulsify, but when just adding this to coffee or rice milk/nut milk and blending makes it like a pudding I find that unpleasant in the extreme. I used to be able to add this to rice or soy milk with frozen fruit and have a delicious drink with a good texture; not too thin or thick. Now, anything frozen creates the sludge, and most dairy-free milks have oils and thickeners as well, so the combo is bad. Adding solely water to this results in a bland drink nowhere near as flavorful as it once was...I just do not get the folks raving about this. I have and use several other brands of non-dairy smoothie mixes like this and NONE of them come out like a thick pudding every single time. For the love of god, Spirutein, STOP with the thickeners!! Let the fruit, ice and "milk" do that for us! I doubt I will buy again. Sad, when I'd been enjoying it for so long.

I love Spirutein- the vanilla is my favorite but I am sure they are all good. I have enjoyed it for many years! Blends well even if I just shake some up in a jar of Mille and ice. Delicious.

J'ai l'habitude de cette protéine. ..je l'ai commander avec cette acheteur car elle était moins cher . J'ai reçu la boîte de protéines sans couvercle...heureusement qu'il y a une protection en aluminium avant mais pour la suite après ouverture c'est pas top pour la conservation . Et je trouve que la protéine n'a pas le même goût que habituellement. Je ne commanderai plus chez cette acheteur .
