How big is the back pocket? I am looking for a small backpack for a purse and I need a back pocket for concealed carry.

I use my purse/backpack and carry a Lady Smith 357 with a shoulder holster and bullet pack in the bottom of the middle or main compartment. There is room for lots of stuff.

Are the straps comfortable if wearing all day?

Well I'm a little older -50's and I personally don't like wearing it traditionally as a two strap back pack style. I zipped the straps together and hooked them both to one side to use it as a one shoulder bag and I think it's very comfortable. I also love the organization of it Hope that helps some 🙂
