Product indispensable to have a home After a respiratory illness, this pulse oximeter became a very important tool for me. Being able to monitor my oxygen level and pulse at home allowed me to keep my doctor informed about my vital signs and recovery progress. The readings are fast, the screen is easy to read, and the device is very simple to use. In my experience, this is a product worth having at home.

This is a great little gadget. I've tested it against my BP monitor and against the ones used by my GP at her office and results match. So, for that aspect, I give it a 5 star. The problem is the start button doesn't work after 4 months, which means after pressing it 540 times, it broke. That is a horribly low number and is so low it would require Amazon to take it off the market if it happens regularly. I am purchasing another to see if it is a standard failure for this product or a fluke. I'll let everyone, including Amazon know how it works out.

UPDATE April - The seller contacted me and suggested that maybe I had a lemon. I accepted their offer to send a replacement unit and have been pleased with the one that came in. That said it is a slightly different model than what I bought, it has a gold tint and came with batteries (nice touch). Otherwise very similar, and guess what??? It works 95% of the time, hooray. When it doesn't I just have to re-insert my finger and try and second time to get a read and it then works. Only bummer is this new model they sent has an audible beep which wakes up my wife when I check in the early morning what my resting hr was as I wake up. Otherwise very happy. Sadly, despite tiny font directions with troubleshooting tips and an email sent prior to even getting it with tips, I am unable to get a consistent read-out. It either times out and turns off or just tries and tries and tries to assess my readings. Also, the first pair of batteries I put in failed to work. Second pair, also new amazon rechargeable AA, did manage to work. Go figure. Disapointed, as this seems great when I get it working. But have tried every variation of pressure in device, each hand, each finger, and even different orientations. Gives a reading 25% of the time.

This is a good oximeter but at times, hard to pick up readings sometimes. My fingers can be warm but doesn't pick up oxygen or pulse, will use another oximeter and works just fine.
