Question 1

I do a lot of leather belts in my business. Will this unit travel the length of the belt for designing? Do I need a jig to hold it perfectly straight?

Accepted Answer

A jig of some sort would be a pretty good idea, for the easiest alignment, but not strictly necessary. To burn designs the full length of the belt, you will need to use registration marks so you can line up each section. The unit has a preview mode that casts light down to show exactly where the design will be burned, so this is easier than it may sound. With the rolling base, you might even be able to burn the whole design at once, provided you are able to get it to grip and move it reliably; this would likely work, if you leave the reverse side a bit rough. Alternately, if you built a wooden frame jig for the belt to lay in, the rollers would probably move it along without any trouble at all!

Question 2

Can you create custom images?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can. You can import your customized images in the app as G-code/JPG/JPEG etc.

Question 3

Does it work good to engrave or even etch on glass mugs and cups?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it can! Actually it doesn't etch the glass but you cover the glass with fingernail polish, tempera paint or similar dark color material. The laser cuts a stencil in the material. then you use etching solution for a few minutes on the glass, that will etch it. Next you wash off the dark coloring leaving a nice etched piece. Go to Facebook, look for the LaserPecker group. Hit the magnifying glass at the top and search for etching glass. It will show you many cases of completed LP glass etching.

Question 4

Does it work for pet Id tags ?

Accepted Answer

Painted and anodized tags can be engraved to silver. Silver tags can be permanently marked in black if you use laser marking spray, engraving powder, or some other substance to bond to the surface such as dry moly.
