Years of peace have passed since the battles of last season, but as we rejoin Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), he faces his greatest enemies, and suffers immeasurable loss, on his quest towards fulfilling his destiny. Now stationed at a northern port town, Uhtred has been entrusted with protecting the king's illegitimate son, Aethelstan. But following a horrific attack on his family, an old enemy threatens the life he has built. Meanwhile, King Edward (Timothy Innes) is still forging ahead with his ambitions to unite the Saxon Kingdoms to fulfill his late father's dream, threatening the long-standing peace between Danes and Saxons. However, the treacherous Lord Aethelhelm (Adrian Schiller) has ambitions of his own, for his grandson Aelfweard—Edward's other son—to rule. As these plans lead to bloodshed and heartbreak, Uhtred finds his own fate may well be tied to the future of the nation…Destiny Is All! Disc 4 - The Last Kingdom Season Five Review: Fate is inexorable - Well done! Review: Great finish to a great series! - Great finish to a great series! They were all done with great attention to historic detail, with great characters and actors. I read all the books years ago (after I read the Richard Sharpe series and many of his other books) and Mr. Cornwell should be proud to have his writings so well visualized! A truly great take on Anglo Saxon (and Welsh, Scots, Danish) history!

Amazing Saga
Fantastic as usual. This season is a favorite. Spoiler, Uhtred finally makes it to Bebbenburg...reclaims his rightful Lordship and lands. Acting, scripts, settings, and historic facts can never be outdone by anyone else. Thank you Bernard Cornwell for writing the Saxon Chronicles...and as I understand you are related to these novels. Wish the chronicles could go on forever.

Did Not Disappoint, Great Series
This show has had such great writing and acting consistently all the way through that even though this was the final season, which makes me sad, it was done so very well. Some have complained that they didn’t age the actors or it didn’t follow the books closely enough, to this I say get over it. There’s always going to be differences between book version and tv/movie versions, it’s like comparing apples to oranges. As for not aging the characters, well I just didn’t let it bother me, the actors did a superb job with their characters and the storyline was so good, that I didn’t have the need to see them as “old”. Given how some gripe about every little thing, if they had aged them, then some of these same people would have complained that they couldn’t have done this or that because they were old…..just watch it and enjoy and rewatch the entire series and again Enjoy!!

Wonderful series. I have seen all episodes. Loved them all.
Great adventure series. Gives a good historical perspective on England BEFORE it was England. Prior to that England was a series of frequently warring kingdoms such as Mercia and others. Scotland too was a bunch of warring kingdoms until united by Kenneth MacAlpine in 743. I have a way back Scottish ancestor named Uchtred (likely an early Scottish Gaelic Name). The hero of this series is Utred so a felt an almost direct connection to my early ancestors almost 1300 years ago. A great adventure but a bit bloody.

Geniale Serie....👌🏼👌🏼
Geniale Schlussstaffel der genialen Serie zur Wikingerinvasion in England! Die "Uthred" Saga ist ebenso wie die "Vikings" Saga eine absolute spannend und fesselnde Erzählung dieser Zeit!!! Klare Kaufempfehlung!! Ebenso wie der anschließende Film zur Serie... Seven Kings must Die!!😉👌🏼

Très bonne série
Dernière saison d'une série intéressante dont l'action se déroule au début de l'unification de l'Angleterre. L'Histoire est à priori respectée, ce qui devient rare.

Life is nasty, short and brutal.
This a wonderful conclusion to the whole Utred saga. I would not reccommend for pre-teens because of the violence. There are many deaths in this season of main characters both good and bad. It is sad to see even some of the killers die. The acting is top-notch and the plot holds together very well. Note the plotting departs from the books in many ways (if my memory serves me). At this point many of the actors are too young for the timeline but that can easily be overlooked. A small but annoying point in the series for me is that Utred carries his long-sword on his back. This may look 'cool' but is really stupid -- even common sense tells you that you cannot pull out a sword quickly or put it back into a scabbard if it is hanging from your back. Whatever, a very satisfying but ultimately 'sad' conclusion to the series.

Medioevo convincente
Nicoletta
