Can the stairs go on the other side?

Unfortunately, no. All the holes and things are drilled so the stairs will only go on the one side.

What's the true weight compacity? shows 250lbs max. is that 250total or per bed? they are two different things. one is 250, and the other is 750

So I could see the 250 for the top maybe but I added a bunkie board which strengthened the base so I'm sure it could hold more. As far as the bottom it needs 2 more support legs where the drawers meet in the middle but 2 adults 200 lbs ea slept in the bed and it held up

what happens if your moving and you want to sell this ?

Well, you should definitely keep the instructions because you will have to take it apart, and then put it back together again at the new location. It took my friend and I two days to put together but... its worth it, perfect for my son.

Mattress thickness for frame that pulls out on the bottom?

Pulls out on the bottom? There is no pull out bed. The bottom has two draws. The top mattress shouldn't be thicker than 6" the bottom I believe can be any thickness
