Rain Bird SST600IN Irrigation Controller, Indoor, 6-Station

I've had many different timers over the years and this is by far the easiest to install, set up and adjust. It's intuitive and no directions are actually needed. Each zone is fully customizable for multiple run times on any days. I find not find this in any store and I'm so glad I waited to order this online. I can see why this has great reviews. I cannot speak to longevity yet as I just installed it, but it works great so far. Now that the hike assignment is identical to other Rain Bird timers which made it simple so swap out the old one that stopped working. I wish like that the wires and even power plug just pop into place. Love this and highly recommend it!!!

Very easy to install. Our old Rain Bird controller started to go out after 40 years of service. (It was installed by previous home owner). I love this controller, as it allows you to water just a single zone without having to manually cycle through 4 other zones. We have our pool feed controlled by the sprinkler controller. The original controller made you select zone, then push the maintenance button 5 times to fill the pool. Sometimes it worked, other times the wrong zone would start. It was old and unpredictable.

The unit arrived as scheduled and was well packed. It was heavier thanI expected, because the power transformer is heavier than expected. You need a sturdy outlet. Unfortunatley, it is an old school 24 VAC transformer, so it is heavy. The unit is nearly a direct replacement for our 30+ year old controller....but with a few new features. I decided not to go with a WiFi enabled unit since they are more expensive, and from the reviews it sounds like the WiFi interface are not robust and connections are often dropped. This unit is easy to wire up, and it worked first time. Some other comments: When reviewing the programming, you can visually see what days each zone is turned on. Nice feature . There is no covering door which makes the control more accessible, but they controls are exposed. (We'll see if the rotary knob get sticky in the garage after a few years.) The solenoid control wires go into the bottom of the unit and aren't well protected. I made a 3D printed housing to channel the wires and keep tem protected. Finally, since there is no cover door, there is not an easy place to put the zone watering schedule. Otherwise, this unit is a good replacement sprinkler controller. A good buy for the price point.

It is true that the Rain Bird SST600IN is a simple-to-set indoor sprinkler controller. It was easy to install too. It fit right where the Hunter was and we were able to use the same back screws. We just had to drill a hole for the screw at the bottom of the Rain Bird controller. Before the removal of the Hunter, we took a picture of the location of each colored wire and put them exactly the same on the Rain Bird. Plugged it in, set the time, date, and programmed watering for 3 areas. We tested and were done. So far, it is working perfectly. So, why the 4 stars? The controller should have a battery backup. It will have to be reprogrammed every time the power goes out.

I purchased this Rain Bird timer because It is an exact replacement for the one that broke. The install was easy and no modifications. Was glad to see that it was still manufactured. First one lasted approximately 10 years and the controls are easy to work. What I especially like about this controller is that it is not complicated, very straight forward.

This is my second one in a number of years. Works fine. The best thing about it is it’s so easy to program.

I watched the video a day prior to it arriving and took the old unit off the wall and labeled the zone wires by color. When it arrived it was installed in LESS than a half hour. Could not have been easier to install and program.

Wire connections on this model are low enough to be an easy replacement Rain Bird ESP Si series. ESP Si used a conduit connection while this model appears to expect a sheathed irrigation cable. The exposed wire length from an existing ESP Si conduit connection is more than long enough to fit this model. But it does need to be installed lower. Hopefully this one is better EMP shielded than the previous ESP Si whose electronics bricked after a nearby lightning strike. ...one last note: It DOES NOT have Wifi connectivity. Amazon's impeccable AI insists something I typed above indicates I said it has Wifi. Since I'm being forced to comment, no Wifi is a good thing because it doesn't require an online account.

When you buy this product to use in India, you should separately purchase 230VAC to 110V AC step-down adaptor (power supply unit) or a 24VAC Power supply unit which can directly connect to the controller . The Controller in put power is 24V AC . This Product comes with 110VAC 60Hz to 24V AC 60Hz stepdown adapter which will suit for US distribution . This controller having self battery back up feature, in case of power failure the settings / date will not change is an advantage from previous version . Easy to set and user friendly controller .

Easy to use, has never needed attention, and runs our front, back, below-ground, above-ground areas with no problems.
