Would a 2 year old be to old for this?

Before my daughter was 2, she just threw the gears away and played the lights/music and watched the face gear spin. Now that she is 2, she has been using the gears. She actually places them on the board to see how they interact. I think 2 is a perfect age for it, but it could just be my kid. Be warned though, this toy is loud. My kid loves it, but family movie movie night pauses while the gears are in play.

How do you get to the access panel for the battery?

I understand. These toys now require an extremely small screwdriver. My husband a set small screwdrivers with a assorted heads. This is a big problem with many toys these days.

is this price for one thing?

Yes. It comes with the board and several little gears to attach to the board.

Does this have volume control?

No. Just an off switch. It is pretty noisy but the kids love it
